Oh yeah - I can relate to that - was watching Madmen dvd's last night (alone) and the was a bed scene and the lady actor playing the wife was cuddling up to main character - just spooning and she had her arm over him and it made me weep for what I had lost. not for long - but i had pangs of sadness wash over me. DW used to love doing that.

Yes, very much so! By the way, you don't have to turn your guy card in -- my husband loved watching those types of movies with me. We called them feel good movies. They were great on Sunday afternoons when no sports were on. It is very hard to watch those scenes. I can only tell you what I have been trying to think when I see other people demonstrating affection toward one another -- I had something very special, I enjoyed being with my husband in every level and had a very good relationship with him -- unfortunately, he was diagnosed with an incurable cancer and could not stay any longer. But what I had, no one can ever take away. Yes I long for him near, I miss his smell, his warmth -- but in my heart he will ever be present. Close your eyes and venture into your memories and savor them -- then thank God for what you had. God has a way of working things out for us -- please don't be hard on yourself -- she was a lucky woman to have been your wife. Unfortunately, God wanted her with him right now. Thank Him for the time you had together. Love never dies, it stays with us forever. We just need to continue living and doing the best we can to get by and it really is interesting, every single day with every new memory one learns something new about life. I hope I made some sense because lately I am not being too coherent. A big hug to you and as another member of this group always ends her posts, peace to you!

Absolutely. For me it's Hart to Hart. DH loved the series and often said we were like the Harts minus the money. Now, I can't bear to watch the series.

It's not just you...my husband loved watching movies & would watch the "chick flicks" with me...now I can't bear to watch them...they make me long for what what we shared...I went and bought a few new dvd's action movies and westerns...he was a big fan of both...so am I...now when I want to watch a movie I pop in one of those...maybe one of these days I'll ne able to watch the "mushy" ones again...

I had trouble reading--concentrating--for a long while after Mike died. I finally picked up a romance novel from a nightstand somewhere I was traveling and more or less devoured it. It felt great to just be able to get through a book again. However, the love scenes were problematic; I wept like a baby during the detailed descriptions of the seductions. Finally, I just skipped over them, sort of defeating the purpose of a romance novel I guess. :)

I just heard the song against all odds yesterday and it made me realize all I had were memories left. I am sill crying over that so I can understand

After he died my daughter gave me an Ipod and I filled it up with love and lost love songs. I cry like a baby every time I listen to it. Why I put sad songs on I don't know because that is how I was feeling I guess!

I guess maybe I'm just different, but I love watching romance movies with happy endings. I have had problems however, watching a couple of movies where the woman suddenly lost her man. Watching an actress portray all that grief and pain set me off and I started crying, feeling it all again. laurabp

Oh yes I can relate to that. All I have watched is criminal shows.....getting a little tired of watching them for the bizallionth time but that is still all the feels safe. Sucks doesn't it?

Yeah Tim - I can definitely relate. I've always been the emotional type anyway. Mark always chuckled at me cuz I cry when I'm happy, or sad, or proud of the kids, or........whenever. So, I definitely can not watch any movies where there are couples in love, holding each other, cuddling in bed........none of the above. Just reinforces many of the things that I miss about my hubby.

Don't turn in the man card - it takes a man to admit that he likes those movies, that he does cry and show emotion. One of the reasons, I'm sure, that your wife loved you so much.

I'm now into the Food Network and HGTV...........LOL........except on HGTV they have those HouseHunter shows where the couple is looking for a new place or a vacation home............they kinda suck !! LOL

Yes I relate only I hate watching HGTV and DIY now because for months that is what my husband and I watched and enjoyed. I've reverted to a lot of regular tv channels...pretty new to me because he hated them other than the news and a couple of shows I was a fan of. Mind you I like Dancing with the Stars and he always complained on that night, but after awhile I would hear him commenting when someone made a mistake. That usually humored me. Almost time for the new season of that so I'll see how that goes. Prefer not to watch anything to lovey right now either.

I can definitely relate, but for me it isn't the love stories or romantic comedies. I was never a big fan of them. The movies that hurt so much for me are the ones I know Dan would have enjoyed. As video store owners, a big part of our job was watching the new movies when they were released. Now, it is so hard to watch them alone. The past few weeks, I have been reducing stock both from the stores and my home and it is so hard just to look at some of his favorite DVDs. I truly hope they are finished making XFiles movies because THAT would be my undoing!
