When he came to visit us in 2006 or 2007, he told my mom that his children (two girls and a boy) do not have to speak to her if they don't want to. He followed with saying, in this decade, they don't have to speak because it's their freedom of choice. With my sister, who lives in California, and she has three kids too. She has two girls and a boy. The only difference is that her kids is older than one of his daughter's. Her oldest daughter is in her 30's and she has three kids herself. She has two girls and a boy also. This niece and I had been like sisters (I don't hate her but she chose not to communicate. I remember, the early 1990s, when my niece told me, my mom and youngest brother that her mother, my sister, once said that when she was a little girl, she never had a birthday party in her life. The three of us looked at my niece and said "that's a lie, at the church my mom and step father gave my sister a wonderful birthday party. It was in the 1970s when I was only kid myself. The party was held in the gym of the church, it was full with people from our church and another church. Each person came, gave my sister cards with money in it and gifts. Plus my mom and step father gave her neat gifts too. They paid for her to have driving lessons, she got a heavy coat with a hood on it. About a few months later, my sister got a station wagon from Mary Kay organization (she used to sell Mary Kay. Because she was a wonderful sales person for Mary Kay, she won a station wagon. Good thing she learned to drive! But she's not satisfied in fact she never think about that. She and my oldest brother seem to be very close. And there is other family issues we are dealing with. I hate when my brother told my mom that he and his wife had taken his mother-in-law out for breakfast on Mother's Day, then to church. When he live with us he never went to church with us (one time he went to church back in 1986, he was trying to impress a girl and her family). He never took mom out to breakfast (back in 1989, for mother's day, he was suppose to take mom out for breakfast but he changed his mind after he got into a confrontation with another brother. In fact he came to our home, telling mom that he was upset with that brother and why he was, he accused mom of being part of it then he went home. After he went home, mom called his home to speak with him, he told his wife that he was mad at mom and did not wish to talk with her, the wife repeated what my brother told her. It was a sad time.
There are other situations I can discuss but I'm keeping it minimal :)
Today, mom is at the hospital and being admitted but she is also angry and emotionally hurt over things that had been said to her and etc. I love mother's day I just don't like the emotional pain that come with it, like today. I tried my best to not focus on past pain but it keep coming my way. For mother's day I had bought mom a glass china closet, and put the glass in it nicely. My youngest brother, the one who lives with us had bought mom something for mom's day too. but it hurts me like hell because me and my youngest brother is trying all we can to make mom happy but the thoughts of the other kids in my family makes mom depressed, I guess it's called being a MoM. The other kids in my family are older than me, they have kids and grand kids themselves. There is only three kids in my family who don't have kids of their own, that's me, my youngest brother and another brother who lives in California but he is another one who gave mom hell and still is.
What a wonderful Mother's Day I'm having huh? :s
