Missing my husband so much

I am brand new to this site and I'm very glad I found it. I lost my precious husband to colin cancer exactly one year ago. I have now completed the year of the 'firsts'-holidays, birthdays and anniversaries without him. My heart is still breaking and I miss him so much. He died from colon cancer in just 11 weeks. Idon't recognize this new life of mine. I think I am still in shock. Everyone thinks I am doing so great but I am not. Some days are better than others. I just try to get through each day the best that I can.

Hi Lexieanne. I'm glad you found us here. It's a good place to be while healing your broken heart. I remember at one year, I so thought it was over, but no such luck. Now at nearly 26 months, I really am doing so much better. It is different for every person, no magic cures except time and lots of it. I know that mask well. Be careful with it though, because we can fool even ourselves into thinking we're better when really that is not the case. Do the best you can with whatever unfolds before you. Just let life come on it's own, and it will when you are ready. Cheer up knowing that the worst is behind you now. My wife died of pancreatic cancer. Four months from diagnosis to death. What a friggin' nightmare that set in motion. I never knew what it was like to lose total control of nearly every facet of my life. But most of the pieces I wanted came back, and I got to choose what pieces of me were better left behind. Focus on allowing yourself to become the person you were made to be. Believe it or not, we all can come out of this stronger than before. God's blessings upon you. ~~~ Scottie

I too am traveling through this journey,but only at 7 months. Each day is a struggle an now I'm having panic attacks almost every morning,I was on zanax for s months an now no longer, physical better but mentally worse,I want this over,

I lost the love of my.life in December 2016. Going through Christmas and New Year's without him was excruciating but I was also numb. I'm less numb now and trying to understand how I'm making it but I am each day I wake up and my heart aches. I'm feeling defeated in trying to rebuild but I will continue as I know it's what must occur. I'm thankful for the love we shared and the precious memories I have to hold. I'm glad your here. My wife passed away last month. In my circle of friends no really understands and they all say I am strong and so forth also. But I'm not. Since she passed I feel so alone in how I feel. It don't fix it but please know I'm experiencing the same feelings you described.
