Thanks! After becoming single again, "skin hunger" was off the charts! I decided that if I needed human touch, I would get it!!!!! I began to hug all the time... Friends.... sometimes people I have just met.....I give hugs. I don't know why this is so important, but it is just as healing and helpful for people who are not widows/ widowers, so I continue to do it.

I know what you mean. I have a dog that I hug all the time, his warm body feels good. I sure do miss the ones from hubby the most.

My mom said when I was very young that it was good to learn to be one's own best friend, as we cannot always have others around us. Little did I know at the time that her words were a foreboding of things to come. Still, I learned to get along well on my own through the years, as this is a lonely society for those of us that don't have an extended family and friends group surrounding us. I've had to return to my old skills of cultivating contentment by myself. Still not easy, and at least there's that portal through the isolation with the internet. So, sending a cyber hug your way (share some cyber tea and cookies while we're at it).

I think I miss the hugs, holding hands and looking into so robes eyes the most! So difficult. Some days I never hear a human voice or touch another person. Sad.

Sending you all a hug. I think all the time, how differently I would do it if I had another chance now that I know how life without him feels. I don't know if I could ever stop touching and talking to him. It's hard to imagine even letting him out of my sight. I miss that man so bloody much!

I have found that through this dreadful grief, I take more comfort from a hug than from words. So a big hug to all.

I send you many strong hugs. I know how difficult it is to do without them.

However, I live in a "non-hugging" society. British people generally do not hug, it is not a touchy/freely culture. At the beginning I lived in the UK (40+ years) and coming from France where people are more tactile, I found it difficult to adapt, but adapt I did and little did I know that it would prepare me for my present situation (every cloud has a silver lining).
