As a single guy seeing you wearing your rings might be a bit off-putting. As a widower it wouldn't bother me at all, I understand.

I was with a Christian man who was a widower. He wore his and his last wife's ring on a chain around his neck. After a year he took it off. It so happens that I also wore my wedding band , and my husband's ring on a chain around my neck. I knew that he expected me to take my necklace off after a year as well. I took it off , breifly, but began wearing it day and night again, and am not seeing anyone right now.

I guess it depends on your intentions, and if you have made it clear you are seeking only friendship, then perhaps it makes no difference. If you feel unsure, you could always remove them for the first "meeting" and maybe bring it up in conversation, casually, if you think you may be seeing him again. I think by wearing them though, you may be sending even a stronger message but if the two of you have established that understanding, then I see no harm.

You have listed yourself as a widow on this dating site, so the guy knows you are a widow and if he can not deal with the fact that you wear your rings...move on and find someone that does understand. You say that you are looking for friendship...so there you are. It shouldn't matter if you wear your rings. Be who you are and if others don't like it; too bad.

I would do what makes YOU most comfortable. If you feel more comfortable with the rings on, then leave them there. If you don't you could switch them to the right hand, or around your neck. There is no mistaking what kind of rings they are, and that I do know for a fact.

I have met men in the grocery store on occasion, that will ask this or that question about something like produce. They automatically see those rings, and there is no question as to what they are. I have never had a problem.

If you feel more comfortable leaving them on your left hand, then who ever you meet will have to understand that it means so much, and if he doesn't...then he is not worth spending time with. the biggest question would be how comfortable you are with everything.

Hmmm....good question. I've never really thought about it. If I was meeting a widow for dinner, as friends I wouldn't have a problem. The main thing is to be comfortable and have a good time with the person you're with - male or female.

From my point of view, it wouldn't worry me at all. What seems to be most important as we look for friendship and who knows what else after bereavenment, is an honesty and openness, as that has to be the basis of any kind of relationship. I have not worn my wedding ring for a year and a half. Wouldn't be a problem for me.But then again I am very shy of those on line dating sites. How can you be sure of their backgrounds. Do a background check to be safe.

As a newly widowed man (5 months) I can only offer my 2 cents. First, obviously its your choice and comfort level that matters. Beyond that, depending on the table talk and circumstances, be honest and open about your feelings. I would not have a problem with you wearing the rings. I think it speaks to your respect and your feeling..and that is a good thing.

yea I keep getting all the internet dating website emails and got one from them the other day... well I've been seeing their comercials alot and decided to go on there and see what it is all about... I don't know if I'm gonna do much with it but I signed up on there a couple days ago... I haven't even really thought it out as far as going out on a date yet, let alone the ring delima, but I guess I better start considering things like that... huh... well I have Julie's and my Rings on a WWJD lanyard that I still wear, especially if I'm feeling nervious or insecure (so I might feel like I need it if I actually went on a date). but I can wear it inside my shirt. Me personally, it wouldn't bother me at all and I wouldn't think most widowers would have a problem with it but maybe different with the others... I still don't quite know what to think about the site though... they say it's free but then you can't do nothing untill you pay a subscription fee... well ok... and all the questionares to go thru before you even get to the website... oh well... Thoink the most important thing is to be true to your own feelings................and no matter if you are meeting just socially, or dating..............the right guy will consider your feelings.

I know that until I took my rings off, I wasn't ready to date. Could that be true for you as well? Just wondering....

i believe your asking .."should i or must i remove them" and 'would it embarass him' is the opposite of what you should be asking yourself..you should be true to your own feelings and not think that that truth might "embarass' some man..if youre honest with yourself then you will find out in a hurry if the guy is the out for dinner type..1 of the minority male view here..

I was wondering the same thing as Bestgirl.....are you TRULY ready? I'm no man, but personally, I wouldn't want to date one who still wore his ring on his finger. Around his neck, over his heart, maybe. But hey, only you will know if and when you're ready to remove them.
