I had to laugh at your post, although I know nothing is funny about our grieving.

I have memory lapses too. I keep forgetting if I took my bp meds and if I gave my cat her meds. The frightening memory lapse comes however when I drive. I wind up going to the wrong store. I have been distracted when driving.

I don't know how many times I go upstairs and walk around wondering why the heck I came upstairs. It just goes on and on.

I'm glad you had a chuckle. I must admit I'm ok outside the home, just seems to be here. Get yourself a 7 day pill keeper, works great to keep track of your meds.

I have put all kind of things in the refrigerator, canned goods, wallet, etc. So if I can't find something, I go to the refrig. first. Red, I also pass up where I'm going and get in a room and can't remember what I came to get. Usually if I go back where I started from, I'll remember. But the good thing is with time the memory starts coming back! (However, mine never was that hot even when I was young.) Thanks Wendy, your post will certainly bring some much needed laughs....and we need laughs!!

I was to play in a golf outing yesterday and totally forgot. I booked an appointment for work at the same time 50 miles away. i got a text from one of the guys in my foursome asking where I was. I texted back, "la-la land" Lol. Kip.

I don't know if it's normal but I certainly have experienced it. The week after my beloved's death, I went food shopping and locked my car because I left my pocketbook in it -- just taking my charge card. The only problem is that I left the windows wide open. Thank God I had angels watching over me. I have also left a charge card in a restaurant, my metro pass on the train, etc. So normal? Who knows but plenty of examples. Good tread -- nice to be able to laugh at ourselves for a change. Jude

I make long...let me say that again....long lists so I won't forget what I am going out for. I NEVER remember to bring the list. I have learned that milk does NOT store well in the pantry....much better in the fridge. Constantly LOSE my keys. Had someone ask me for my street address.....could not remember it to save my soul. I am sure there more more things.......but just now I cannot remember......

I meant to say "many more things".......quess typing is another skill I have forgotten.

Taking advantage of the "Buy One Get One Free" sale on olive oil - 3 times because I forgot I'd already it done it twice before.... that one really scared my kids.... yeah 6 large bottles of olive oil.... good thing I do a lot of Mediterranean cooking...

I've done so many things, don't know where to start! I go into rooms wondering what I was supposed to get or do in that room. Forget that I'm already working on one project and start another (several times a day), lose my keys, lose my lists, can't find something that is right in fornt of me. Get distracted VERY easily. Right after John passed, I started making cole slaw, spent an hour chopping up the cabbage and carrots, instead of adding onion powder I added garlic powder. I have a bread machine and was attempting to make rolls and instead of a 1/4 cup of sugar, I added salt. However, I did make cookies on Sunday and paid VERY close attention so as not to screw them up and managed that ok. I also forget where I'm going when I'm running errands and do alot of back tracking. So glad I'm not the only one that does these things.

My Dad and I were both widowed in 2009, dad at the beginning of the year and me, at the end of the year.

We, my siblings and I, saw my dad behaving very strangely after momma died. We attributed it to old age, he turned 70 in 2009, until I lost my H.... Then we knew...

Between the lack of food, lack of sleep, and being dehydrated from crying, is it really any wonder that we've gone bonkers???? I put the tape measure and a hammer in the freezer, I found canned goods in the linen closet, both of us have trouble remembering what we went to get and some of the times, even where we are going... At my son's Orchestra Concert, I completely forgot how to clap... We are both easily distracted, and if we are holding something and lay it down, FORGET IT - it's gone... Very frustrating, but, at least we are able to laugh at ourselves... My 13 year old has threatened to put bells around our necks so we don't misplace ourselves... I told him if he would direct me to the store, and remind me when we got there what we were going for, I'd buy them.... :O)

I also meant to mention that we forget our train of thought when speaking... Words just seem to disappear!

My worse is usually stopping mid sentence and forgetting what I was saying. I've called so many people and just sit there because I don't remember why I called them (and even who I dialed). I forget so much day-to-day stuff, my mom says to write a note .. but like most, I usually lose the note(s).

I keep forgetting about the Chihuahua, I have left her in the bed in the mornings she then has an accident in the bed and I have to wash all the bedding. I have also locked the pitiful little thing outside and forgot about her, all she can do is stand by the door hoping I remember her at some point. This isnt the white one in the picture here; its the one sitting in front of the laptop in my pictures.

I did recognize this as being a problem early on and I made sure I have a second set of keys to all the vehicles available and I left a key to the house outside.

Sometimes I forget people's names. And I mean people I've know for years...I say "sweetie" a lot, lol. I keep an updated lined pad of everything, and I mean every little detail I have to do. Sometimes I feel like I'm running on autopilot, just doing my thing while my brain is off somewhere in the ozone. So what was the question?
