Hugs to you and I'm wishing you a peaceful weekend. I lost my husband 6 1/2 yrs. ago, but I still remember the raw pain of that first year. We were married 50 yrs. & 8 mo., and I know that was a special blessing. Life is never the same after losing our spouse, but as Darlene said, it does get a little easier with time.

It has been a year since I lost my love & 38yrs of marriage this Jan.
It just seems like yesterday. Everything you see or do or hear or think reminds you of him. Someone posted this the other day and it is so true......"It's odd what our life becomes once death enters."

My first weeding anniversary after my husband died was my hardest day so far. I couldn't control my tears. I was just so sad. The first year of "firsts" is tough. This is a hard journey. I think I'll always be sad, but thankfully it does get easier as time goes by.
To quote Lama Tenzin, who lived here on Maui for many years, "It's not what happens to you in life, it's how you deal with it. That is the only thing in life you have control over". I think of his words often as I try to survive such a huge loss in my life.

Thanks to all of you . It is quite clear that you all understand. Its a tough road but try to find things to do helps. I spent 4 hours outside from 1-4:30 approx, clean horse stalls, watered, added stall shavings and been working all week on trying to divert water after the constant rain we had here. Building up spots around fencing, picking up all the broken fallen branches as soon it will be dry enough to cut the grass again. Just waiting for things to dry so I can start working a horse that has issues.
Then come in too tired to do anything else ha! Well, cooking isn't something I do anymore so that saves time.
I must say I am grateful for the animals. Horses, dogs, cats and one squirrel. They all bring me much happiness and when I am sad or start to cry here comes Cisco, our full blooded Border collie and tries to comfort me. Animals are amazing .

the first year is filled with so many special firsts. Our anniversary was 12 days after he passed. I was so numb last year and just cried most of the day. This year, I planted flowers in the garden. I looked at pictures from a previous anniversary when he was healthy, his arm around my shoulder and smiling. I feel so very fortunate to have had such love in my life.
