Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.

Those intense feelings of saddness just overwhelms you & comes on all of a sudden out of the blue. It's normal & part of our grief.
I don't have them as often anymore. Actually now I am having flashes of happy memories. Happy times. I almost hear his voice saying familiar phrases and I love it. It makes me happy. I am not saying I do not have sadness still because I believe I will always be sad because he is not here but it seems to be getting a little better for me. I catch myself actually being hopefull. Don will be gone 6 months in December. He lived 6 months after Dx so this December 8th will be a year that we started this horrible journey.
Sending prayers to you & everyone on this board for a good day and some happiness in the days ahead. Take care, Lucy
We all know what it that means... at 3 am when the demons come out of our pillows.
Fighting my way back to God has made all the difference for me. I look forward to seeing my husband when my life here is over. So anxious to see his gentle face.
Or any other place that you two went to together. Think of all the memories in the aisles - the cereal he ate, soap he used, ect. There are so many memories with taste and smell. I would cry when I see older couples in there, so not fair and they don`t even get along!
After our boy died, I would go there and buy the pop and cookies he loved, and eat them until I got sick. You will find that there are other places that will trigger this.. P.S. ask anyone here, they will tell you that screaming in your car is a really safe place to let loose.
Take care. G-
