As hard as it is to believe I have lost two friends because in their eyes I have not grieved hard enough are long enough. I find it difficult to comprehend how my ability to heal has caused two of my friends to turn their backs on me and declare that I have no right to have moved on when they themselves have not been able to do so. Am I wrong to believe that we all heal in our own time and that each persons grief journey is unique to them? I loved my husband and shared an amazing life with an amazing man. There is never a single day that goes by that I do not thank God that Michael was in my life. My healing has come from the love that I shared with Mike. I am honoring him by living the full and complete life that he would want me to. Am I changed? Yes I am forever changed. I like everyone else have my regrets. Words that I said in anger and words that needed to be said that were not spoken. I regret times that I was not the women he needed, and find joy in the times that I was all that he needed. Having lost the sweetest part of my life has brought me to my knees. Knowing that my dear sweet husband is now in the arms of God has lifted my spirit to new heights. Do I need to tell these friends all the intimate details of my grief journey, or do I just need to go on without them in my life? Any suggestions.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...

It doesn't make you a bad person for not needing to be miserable along with them. My guess is that they are afraid because they see you making all these strides forward while they are still stuck, and they are afraid they will be doubly alone -- not only having lost a spouse but also a grief buddy.
It's a tough call. If they have cut you loose, then no problem if you want to continue moving forward with your life without them. I get the impression that you feel they are judging you, and doing that unfairly. If that is the case, let them go. In all likelihood, the friends you lose will simply be making room and energy available for new friendships.
And like some of the others, I had surprises as to who stepped up when others had failed me. There were terrible hurts, but there were incredible positive surprises, too.
One thing that I always found disturbing is that people who would never have dared to tell me how to live my life under ordinary circumstances suddenly thought they had the right to tell me how to live once I became a widow. I became a widow, not an idiot, and I truly did not appreciate people talking to me like I had suddenly become a child or something. And I did have the full gamut from extreme criticism to full unbridled support when I started a new relationship.
The bottom line is that no one but you can live your life. I feel sorry for your friends for their inability make any progress, but that should not prevent you from living your life as fully as possible.
Love and Hugs,
Martha
