It sure has been a longtime! Glad you are doing well these days. I'm sorry to hear about the losses, I hope they passed peacefully without any suffering. Would I remember any of them?? I made the full move to England, married Acuriousfish (who I had met here), and we're living our own version of happily ever after. Our lives look nothing like they did before we lost our spouses and wound up on DS, but life is good again. This board has not been very active since they changed the format and made it harder to connect to people or follow discussions. It's not like the old DS, unfortunately.

The ones we lost were sparkles0521, janalm, the other 2, I can't find them, maybe it's been too long or I don't remember their names on here. Loran and Betsy were the other 2. Lost to cancer.

It has been over 7 years since I lost Al. I started a widow group through my church and we have become "sisters by another mister". A good friend of mine who also lost her husband and I have traveled, usually spending the month of January in Florida. We didn't go this year because I was diagnosed with esophogus cancer that has spread. I have a huge prayer group and would welcome prayers from you all too. I have a strong faith so I know God has a plan. Blessings to you all. Enjoy every day.

I'm so glad you found a church that fills your needs. I tried to find one after my husband died, with no luck. I will pray for you. God does have a plan, one we never know until it happens. God Bless

Wow, was I surprised to see some familiar names from what seems like forever ago. Good to hear from you folks.

I can easily say that DS changed my future. I met and married Dan who was a DSer. We married after chatting for quite some time through Meebo made available on the DS site. We chatted via text for a few months, and then decided to take that BIG step of meeting in person. We lived nearly a thousand miles apart so we met in a state midway for the both of us. Long story short: we continued our nightly phone calls and traveled from Ohio to Minnesota as often as possible. We married after 1 1/2 years, and have been married 10 years in 2023. As others have said--it's different than that love of our youth (he was married 41 years; I was married 42 years) and adjustments came in fits and starts, but I'm so very happy that we both took that leap of faith. It's been another chapter for us that created growth and understanding in our lives and the lives of our families. Blending backgrounds and families fashioned a wonderfully different future than what I ever imagined. I'm so grateful to share my faith, family, and future with this amazing man.

TJ, we have a number of people in our group that have married. At least 4 couples met on this site. 2 couples reconnected with high school sweethearts. I think dating someone who has felt the same pain, is easier. Of course some, are not interested at all in dating. God bless you and glad to hear you are happy

I am alone for the first time in my life since my husband passed 6 years ago now. I have no desire to ever date again. Getting to learn i can be happy with just myself and getting to know myself better too. Do not need another to make you happy some people do though. All the best

I am so glad your happy and it sounds like you have gone on with your life beautifully. Isn't it amazing how the heart is capable of so much love. The past and present make up our story with the ending to be reflected in the future.

It's been a while and I have been here for 10 years. I wasn't aware of the facebook group as I would have like to take part.
I'm happy many are doing good.
I'm still by myself . The way it work out. I'm not yet retired but in the last 10 years have gone to school and started a career and will get as many years as I can in.
