Haven't been here in awhile because it seemed like I was doing pretty well. Then this weekend knocked me back on my ass again. In my second year of holidays so didn't really make any hard and fast plans as I didn't think I needed to. However this weekend just turned into a long, lonely one. Don't want to be around others yet don't want to be alone either! Thought about going to the movies or shopping but can't drum up the enthusiasm to leave the house. Did do some chores earlier that I had planned and put dinner in the crockpot but now find myself sitting on the crouch crying. I just miss PJ and our life together so much. I also realized, thanks to Facebook, that's it's 2 yrs today since my beloved husky Bonnie died. I just wish I could go back to my old life. This "new normal" is so hard sometimes. Tired of having to do it all myself. Had a stressful week at work learning a new computer system. The ups and downs of life were so much easier when I had someone to share it with instead of shouldering all the burdens alone.
I know no one here has a magic wand to put things right but just needed to share with people who understand what it's like when you suddenly get ambushed.
Thanks for just being here to listen, Liz.

Today I feel grateful. Grateful for my dog Blue (Blue Jean Baby Queen, Prettiest girl I've ever seen). Grateful I'm still kickin'. Grateful I'm finally taking responsibility for my health. Grateful I own my home. Grateful for good friends and neighbors who watch over me. Grateful to God for His everlasting love and patience with me. Grateful I survived the 10 years since my wife of 30 years...

Love to you
Darcie
Went by the house later, daughter in laws parents were there, they were grilling. So I went home and grilled myself a hamburger
I am so depressed and alone. Been crying all weekend...
Yesterday it was raining all day. It was nice because I got to be totally alone with my thoughts. I wanted to be alone, yet I didn't. Not sure what's going to happen for me on actual holidays...
I could have written your post myself. This holiday weekend was the 1 yr 1 week anniversary for me and it knockd me flat. Last year at this time was his funeral. To top it off I hurt my knee and ended up in ER for 3+ hrs alone and remembering a year ago when he died in ER. Awful time. At least from all the comments we are sure not alone. Maybe we should have had a virtual cook out for all of us who were alone and miserable. Hang in there and ride the waves. Unfortunately they hit when we least expect it. Hugs, Robyn
