It finally happened: all that stress of dealing with my father led to an emergency room trip. It started at work. I suddenly got real dizzy. I could barely make it to the chair to sit down. I told my coworkers to call 911 and started asking them to check me for stroke symptoms(This proves nursing school training never leaves completely)

Anyhow they ambulance came and rushed me off to the hospital. They checked for strokes and heart attack and everything came back fine. So that leaves what caused the dizziness. My blood pressure had shot up to a dangerous level. Now, I've got to go in for a stress test, but I have no one to blame but me. I know I have a blood pressure stress reaction. It's what got me out of nursing school. So, I've got to take better care of myself. And it starts now.

I'm glad you are ok. It is easy to get wrapped up in the stress of our lives and attending to the needs of everyone else. We give so much to others that we don't take time for ourselves. Do you have any time at work where you could take off for a while? Maybe a nice, relaxing vacation somewhere?

I'm so glad you are okay and that you didn't take any chances! Maybe it's time to stop and smell the roses?? It sounds like you've really been pushing yourself hard. Please try to take it easy for a bit. I hope the stress test goes okay too. Keep us posted.

This sounds scary Tru. I'm so glad you were able to get checked out right away. Your body is sending signals that something different needs to happen, and it looks like it gave you a good sense of awareness. Take care!

Thank goodness you did not have a stroke or heart attack! Hopefully your blood pressure will go down soon.

Well I do not like Roses Tru but I can send you some daisies to smell - it may be time for any flower to stop and smell eh?

Truly glad you are ok, and YOU are going to be ok right? YES!

I think I need to get a checkup too Your story and others have made me want to call on Monday to get an appt -

I'm so glad you are ok. Stress can cause all kinds of health problems and we just have to be proactive about our health and make it our top priority. Take care of yourself and let us know how your tests come out. Take care, Sandra

Tru; You have been worrying about everyone else and not realizing what a strain it is putting on you. Time to look after yourself and maybe this was the trigger to give you that watershed moment.

SCARY! Glad no heart or stroke!!! Well, Tru, you know ~~ with your past nurse's training ~~ got to take care of YOU! Please do NOW.

I'm not a good one to tell anyone that ~~ according to my kids and friends, but, after this deal with pneumonia and a relapse ~~ I am trying to do better for myself.

Hope the stress test goes ok.
