Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
I too, feel like this group is my life line.
Pathetic, huh. That I am spending so much time in front of a machine for comfort. Yup. A lousy club to belong to, but glad it is here... 5 weeks, two days to the moment...
And then came the sadness, numbness, loneliness and tears - the never-ending tears. (It's been 18 months, now, and they still come; although not as often or as painful). After several months of this, I found that I just had to "go with it." Struggling only made it worse. The tears and emotions just came - not at the most convenient times, I might add - and I eventually said, "Uncle."
But, a strange thing happened somewhere between there and here. I began to smile, then laugh, then feel happy - yup! happy! And all that gloom lifted, very slightly at first, then a little more and a little more.
I am now a whole person. A whole lot different, but an entire emotional being. I still miss Darrell - always will. But, now he's tucked away safely in his special niche in my heart. Wherever I go, he goes. If I want to talk to him, he's right here with me. And, no matter what my future without him, he wanted me happy while we lived our lives together...why would he want any less for me now that he's no longer physically here?
I hope this gives you some comfort as you struggle with your pain.
Hugs,
Terry
