I'm sorry for your loss, MrsL, and I hope that you can find comfort here. I did. Like you, my husband died with me holding on to him. I remember walking out of that hospice room into the bright sunshine - and couldn't believe the earth was still turning for everyone else when it had stopped for me. It was shattering. So sorry for your loss MrsL. This group has given me much support and healing in the short time Ive been here and will do the same for you. It has forced and taught me how to get in touch with my feelings and emotions. Im not all that far along in this journey. At first I could not see any light at the end of the tunnel. I now believe I will survive and that farther into journey I will come out of this as a much better person from the lessons this event is teaching me. My girl Sally did not want to leave me but she also would want me to recover and live life to the fullest. Sal unfortunately had a family heart condition and had little control over her destiny. Im sorry you have to be here but we are in this together and gain strength from each other. Please lean on us because we do know what and how you are feeling and how hard the days can be to get through.

I'm sorry for your loss and the pain that accompanies it. Lung cancer took my husband too only ten weeks after diagnosis. He had been clean of nonhodgekins lymphoma for 6 years when he was struck with a terminal diagnosis of the lung cancer. We engaged hospice and they were a true blessing, knowing when to come and when to give us time for us. We did things on his good days and talked together on the others. It was a beautiful time of togetherness and closure. We were different from most and discussed his upcoming death. We were aware that our time together was short and wanted to make each moment count. He passed away with his family and love ones at his side.

Then my terror began, but with the loving support from my friends here who understood as others can't I made it through. Welcome to the group. Sharon

So sorry for your loss. My husband died at home 4 months ago. I too was blessed to have family members with us at the end. It was what he wanted and I'm glad we were able to do it for him. It wasn't pretty watching him leave this place and it's taken me a while to be able to replace those last memories with ones of happier times, but I'm getting there. Grief is a work in progress and we're all here to help each other through it. Glad you found us. Liz

Today is the 4 month anniversary of my husband's passing. He died at home under hospice. He had congestive heart failure. We were married 34 years.

I understand what you're feeling. It's heartbreaking. The pain is unbearable.
You will find help and support here. We all understand, and we care.
You have to take care of yourself. Find a grief support group or a therapist. Lean on your family and friends, let them help you.

Mrs.L. I am so sorry for your loss of your precious husband from lung cancer. My husband passed eight months ago from cancer. His diagnois was initially for three months, but he went through a nine month battle and also passed at home. My heart is broken and shattered. We are all here for you, understand, and will all offer support and comfort. Much peace.

So sorry for your loss my husband also had lung cancer which spread to his brain and he was gone in 5 weeks from being diagnosed. Too quick we had no time to talk as he said he was going to win and wouldnt even accept he was ill. So I do feel guilty that i couldnt save him. DS has given me a lot of support with many friends to lean on. You will find solace here also I'm sure of that. Hugs from Val

I am so sorry for your loss. And I am also sorry that you are now joining us on this long road of grief and recovery. We are all here for you. It sound like you did a wonderful job of taking care of and loving your husband. Although it seems impossible now, try to give yourself a little bit of that same love and care. If you can find a grief therapy group or counselor. It really helps. Come and vent here all you want. We are all a keyboard away.

reading all posts I can understand all the grief that comes with the loss of a loved one. In my case i lost my dear wife of 62 years of marrige I was her care taker for the last two years she had lost one lung 13 years ago and was near normal but two years ago developed COPD and was on oxygen 24-7 and I became her care taker she passed away this passed may at age 81 I am 88 we had five chrildren four out of state I live by myself and do not want to move after forty two years of memories every where I turn I can see my wife she is now in a resting place waiting for me which is only ten minutes from my home for the first week I visited her every day I am down to three or four days a week I miss her so much but I know I will be with her soon please excuse my spelling and everytthing else the more you loved someone the more it hurts

I can really relate to how you are feeling...my husband passed away Oct 25th and I cared for him at home for almost two years. I run a hospice but nothing prepares you for this loss...Both parents and friends have passed as well...but in the past my husband was the person who helped me through it...home is an empty spot right now

I am sorry for your loss. I lost my husband to Lung Cancer 21 months ago, 8 days after diagnosis and watching Cancer beat up on the one you love leave a certain set of marks on your soul. Little by little grieve will allow acceptance to come in and help you heal.

Thank all of you for your words of understanding. So many of you have also experienced the pain and suffering of a spouse from lung cancer. My hubby had small cell in 2003 and one year of chemo/radiation he was free of cancer for almost 11 years, but with it came the consequences of the treatment like blood clots, steroids destroyed his hips and he had both total hips replacements, cancer to the brain and had gamma knife radiosurgery, stents, hospitializations many times and in the middle of the night speeding to the hospital. It took him 5 years to recover so he could work again. Then again and after all he'd been through his body just couldn't fight back this time and he stopped chemo. I know you all are just as down and stressed out as I am and i hope too that all of you are able to deal with the pain of no one at home, no one to call or text saying, I'm coming home with dinner" or I just wanted to say I love you. I find i'm losing weight because i can't find interest in eating but with all I take care of here at home (horses, dogs, cats) I must eat come supper time. Sometimes i just stare at the plate.
Those of you who had Hospice, so did we but I did most of the caring until the very last couple months. But i was always there because i was protective of my husband, I didn't want anyone to hurt his areas of cancer that were so painful to him.
Guess you too had those feelings of "watchout" , becareful!
Well tomorrow is Veterans Day so I'll light a candle next to my husband's beautiful Urn with his named engraved on a metal oval piece. He is retired from the Army and the mortuary had a flag folded for me and it lies beside his ashes now. I have him home with me and that's what we both wanted.
I too am sorry for you loses all of you. It's terribly hurtful and the mind has its way of coping, some easier than others. I wish the best to all of you, too.
