Decorating may bring forward needed memories of your loved one who enjoyed the upcoming Holiday. Through the eyes of your 3 year old grandson, you may find some joy in it as well . This is honoring your husband`s life.

There is no right or wrong. I decorated and tried to make holidays as "normal" as possible for my grandchild. She misses her Paw so much and she as well as the rest of us needed this. It is hard at times with tears shed but glad we do it. My husband loved holidays and being with family so much. I don't cook as much as I used to - just lost the interest I used to have. Go for it.......decorate........enjoy your grandson....... you're still living and don't pay any attention to worry about what others may think......there are no rules......do what makes you feel good...... mourning is a tough and long road, if you can make a small pit stop of joy along the way, it will do you a world of good.....

I can't decorate, not yet. It doesn't feel right, for me.

Our biggest pleasure was to decorate for every holiday........without Morey to share it with it all seems pointless!

My kids and grandkids come over and they're used to our silliness for holiday dcor but they don't say anything to me nor do they expect Mom and Grammy to do anymore than [I'm] she's doing!

I'm thankful for that and their patience with me.

I agree with the other posters, do whatever you feel comfortable doing. The sad moments will happen but we need to keep happiness in our hearts too.

I agree with everyone else here. You have to do what's right for you. There is no right or wrong. If it feels right and that's what you want then do it! Hope you get through it OK.

I would decorate if you want too period. I plan to for Christmas my Grandson spends a lot of time with me & although it is difficult to go on I feel like I need to. My husband & I dressed up as Pooh & Tigger & entertained kids on Halloween I will be wearing my suit trick or treating with the kids. We don't have to not do things that may help us feel normal because "we should be grieving" we are grieving. Doing traditional things is hard even starting new traditions but closing off & not celebrating isn't going to help us. If you feel too broken hearted to do certain things that is okay but if you want to go for it, it is healthier for our minds

I go to grief counciling ,my husband passed away 7/25 & it shattered me. I am so thankful for our children & grandchildren keeping me alive & going. I swear the day he died I wanted to go too.& I have set back days. But embracing life with all of its gifts is why we are still here. So I try to do the things we would have done. Other things I simply can't. I can't imagine going to the annual partys we went to. I went to our sailing club to watch the airshow with my son laborday & it was terrible for me.I closed my membership & may come as a quest someday but I cant emotionally handle it. But our family traditions I want continue & face & adjust . I would want him to if the tables were turned
