I take pics of my husbands grave with the flowers I put there. I don't know why. I just do. I don't think its disrespectful. hes my husband and I can take pictures of anything having to do with him. :) but seriously do what every makes you feel better.

I don't know if it is acceptable or not, but does it really matter? Who cares. If you want to take a picture of the marker/headstone than why shouldn't you. I took a picture just last week when I went to visit with my husband. I didn't even know that the headstone was put in. But there it was. I took a picture & then sent it to my children. I also sent to my husband's brother & sisters. No one was offended. I just sent a brief message stating that I wasn't sure if they wanted to know when the headstone was place but just letting them know that it was. So my thought is that this is your loved one that you lost & you should be able to take a picture of the headstone. I mean no disrespect to others that do not agree with this.

I have pictures of the family head stones. My Mum was from England have some of her family, grandparents here and my parents. Its family history that helps keep dates proper I find no disrespect at all. If that is the case I must be very disrespectful plus I still have Ken 's Ashes in his urn in my livingroom on a shelf. He never wanted to be put underground and we want our ashes mixed together when I die. The kids know this then as long as we aren't put in the ground they can scatter us where ever.

Absolutely not! In fact, you may find that someone has already taken pictures. I did a google search on my husbands name once and found a web site that listed graves and had pictures of his headstone.

As others have said, "NO, it is not disrespectful!" As soon as my husband's headstone was set ~~ I took pictures of both sides of it.
My children (adults) and I chose a unique headstone and then had to decide what picture we wanted engraved on his side, as well as my side. Then, my youngest daughter wanted a phrase engraved on the back of her dad's that was a simple statement that summed him up. So, we had to come up with something to be engraved on mine too.
I took pictures and sent to my kids ~~ two live in an adjacent state.

We felt that Joe would like what we did. He probably would have laughed about the tractor that is engraved on his side, but, that was so "him". Anyway, we do what we have to do or need to do. Taking pictures of headstones has been going on for a long time.

There are so many things that, as a widow/widower, we have to face and we learn that we have to do what helps us get through which ever stage we happen to be going through. (you go through all the stages many times ~~ not just once.)

Thank you everyone! I feel much better about it! I did take the picture, it was so beautiful with the pink roses! He loved pink, pink & green! I am sending the pictures I took to his mother who lives in Hawaii. I will probably end up taking pictures every time I go to send to her since she won't be able to visit it often. Lois11 Brad was also cremated. They did the entombment above ground in what I believe is called a columbarium. Once they place the urn in a space they seal it with a marble tile. I will try to post a picture, it is very beautiful.
