Honestly, Patricia- I was just thinking today that the hugs are the one thing I miss the most. It was so nice to come home and get a two or three minute hug at the end of a long day. I hope hugs are possible in heaven!

Hope you don't mind my story. I live in a 3 family house my husband and I downsized to before he died. My daughter and son in law also Live here and we rent the 3rd. About 3 years after my husband died I was attempting to cross an iced sidewalk to get to my car when my son in laws brother pulled up. He put his arm around my waist to keep me from falling and I was totally blown away. It was the first time I was touched by a man and I was actually shaking. Hopefully he thought it was from the cold. Sharon

Hey ladies can a guy get in on this to? I have only had maybe three hugs from a lady since last August. This was from a coworker that's a friend at work. I miss the physical touch of Lyn more than anything else on earth. After ten months I can still feel the touch of her skin. Hope that never goes away.

I am fortunate that there are a couple of male huggers at church, and since I am often in tears there (church is my leading cause of anxiety attacks....), I get them. Lots of my friends are huggers too. But I do appreciate the "man hugs" as I call them. Definately not the same as the tight ones filled with that special kind of love and intimacy though, but they get me through.

I totally understand. If I'd have known 10 months ago today would be my last hug I wouldn't have let him go :( Thank goodness for our baby because when he hugs me I can feel hubby's hugs too, that may sound crazy to people but it's true.

I've been hugged by lots of people since Tommy passed but this was a man hug, and he was tall so he just wrapped me up like I was so tiny. Funny thing, I can still feel his hand on my waist. He was a good hugger. :)

Patricia, totally understood. I have a couple of stories, too. I remember, I think I was 2 months out, if that, and one of my customers (one of the most empathetic and lovely women I've ever met), took one look at me, and literally gathered me into her arms. I was stiff as a board. She didn't let go - I could feel her literally pour her sympathy and love into that full body hug. I have never forgotten it.

I hang out on Sat. afternoons at a local restaurant with a bunch of people I've known for 20+ years. We're all in our late 50's, 60's, 70's. We (men and women) kiss and hug each other coming in and going out. We've lost people, and intuitively, we know there's not a promise in "I'll see you next week". It's nice. So...((HUGS)), Marsha

I agree: there are hugs and then there are HUGS. Every time my oldest stepdaughter hugs me she holds me very tight. For some reason it feels like a true connection with the flowing of feelings back and forth, more than the little friendly hugs you get from others. It makes us both tear up every time but it feels good and we hug every chance we get.

I pretty much only get arm hugs from Alice the cat, as she prepares to disembowel the underside of my forearm with her back feet. Evil little striped witch!

;) I do miss John's hugs - nothing like those around

Dennis, was a great hugger and we also like to hold hands. I have two son-in-laws, 3 grandsons who are all over 6 feet tall. They'll all gather round and hug me. They call me little Mom, Grandma. I love it.
But Dennis's hugs were still the best. Always a hug and kiss before we went to sleep. I miss him.

I see some of you know about the A-frame hug:) that's the one you don't really feel or its awkward.

I miss the hugs, giving and receiving. My husband always had my hand. Even in the car while he was driving he would have one hand on the steering wheel and other hand holding mine. A few weeks ago, while at my sister in laws home, we all stood in a circle and held hands while the prayer was being said. I had a man on each side of me and I was overwhelmed by the memory of just how strong a man's hand can be. What I wouldn't give to have my "Lenny" hug and hold my hand one more time.

Oh! My! This has brought weepy tears to my eyes this morning.

I love men's hands, shoulders and backs. My Morey had the strongest hands and arms.......he would hug me and it simply took my breath away. I will miss those hugs until the day I die.

I miss Chad's hugs so much, he was the best hugger. His mom told a story to the rabbi when everyone met before his service about how when she had cancer (and he was still in high school) she would call for him in the house and ask for a hug and he would just hug her tight. She and I bonded over talking about his hugs, there is honestly nothing better. I have a male best friend, so for me I get guy hugs often, they aren't the same, but always nice to have a guy protecting you.

Chad was often jealous of my best friend in the beginning of our relationship, but oddly, a couple months before he passed away he told me that if nothing else, he knew that no matter what happened to him, I would always be ok because Warren would protect me. He was right about that, but his hugs pale in comparison though.
