Yes, this makes me very sad too, and it doesn't help that every night I now have a ritual of putting two queen size pillows vertically down on Mike's side of the bed. Sad but true.

I totally understand. Pat's feather pillow still has his scent.

I like our "old" sheets because of the chocolate milk stains on his side. He loved to eat bananas and drink chocolate milk every night after he got in bed to read. All our sheets have the chocolate stains on them and they are such a sweet reminder of how they got there. A sweet remembrance to me.

I still have the pillow with the same pillow case that he last used, I can't bring myself to remove the case to wash it....
I hug it and try to smell his scent and just hold onto whatever I can.

i know what you mean about making the bed, i make the bed every morning, and it still hurts that no one sleeps on his side. i can't seem to, even if i roll over on his side, i can't sleep well on that side. it will be 11 months tomorrow for me.

I know it may seem weird but i wish i still had his pillow, it was the flatest pillow i had ever seen. but when the kids were helping me move, the sheets and pillows were put in a big garbage bag and mistakenly thrown away. i miss his flat pillow.

This is one thing that I really share with you. It's so difficult to take the sheet off where he would have laid and it's completely clean. I am ashamed to admit it but I do it much much less often than I should because I just hate it so much. I"m at 15 months, it's no better.

There is no rule on how often, or not, the sheets need to be changed, I'm with you Ks56!

I hate changing them because I have problems with my wrist and he always helped me. I was putting on a clean mattress pad the other day and when one end went on another came off...my wrist was hurting and I was crying and swearing when I realized my window was up and my apartment is very close to my neighbors who of course on her porch :) I bought a body pillow and put it lengthwise.

Does anyone else have a lot of pillows on the bed now? I did not sleep much at first, and another widow told me to fill his side with pillows and see what happens. I started to sleep some better after I did that and still have those pillows there. The widows I met at a support group all admitted they did this too.

Over nine months and I still hate changing the sheets. Jim always helped me. Sleeping with five kingsize pillows and one small dog (sometimes two when my son's dog is here) and the bed is still sooo empty and lonely.

I hate it too. I hate even spending time in the bedroom unless I am so tired I can barely make it up the stairs. I manage to do it but alot less often than I use to that's for sure. I understand. Hug, Donna

Well, once I changed the sheets the first time, I've had no problem since then, but I do have lots of pillows on the bed...I started sleeping on his side of the bed because it was just too hard to wake up and not see him there...that and I would always roll over to his side of the bed when he'd get up to get ready for work before he retired n Feb. At first I would slip one of his unwashed t-shirts over his pillow and hug it close to me when I'd go to bed at night...now I sleep on his pillows...I sleep with three dogs, plus I have my laptop and my Bibles & other books that I'm reading on what used to be my side of the bed...I pretty much live in my bedroom, since I don't watch tv much...the Living room is the hardest room for me...it's too hard to look over and not see him in his chair, watching one of his 500 dvd's....I just can't sit in there...

Sleep on his side of the bed, it's closer to the bathroom, and sleep on angle with 'baby' fitting in nooks and cranies. Started sleeping on angle when I realized the bed was getting a groove in it. :( Making the bed isn't a problem as he hated to do it and was a struggle to get him to help.
