I lost my husband on December 4, 2016; yes just under 3 months ago yet it still feels like moments ago. Ray was diagnosed in June last year, 6 months later he succumbed to Esophageal Cancer. I watched as he went from the big burly man that always took care of us to a mere shell of a man, nothing but bones. He lost 80 lbs in those few months and we watched as he became so anxious and didn't want to leave the house.
We were married 38 years and have 3 beautiful children. We brought him home with Hospice on December 1st; we thought we had some time to say our good byes. Then he turned very quickly and started transitioning. He suffered so much as he lay there dying and kepyt tlling us he didn't want to die. The fear in his eyes will haunt me forever. My children, our reverand and a neighbor helped to usher him to heaven. Then he died. And I am a widow. And I hate being alone. I hate going to the store without him, watching tv alone, his hugs, his hand holding mine, and his warm body as he spooned me everynight.
I hate crying to sleep everynight, crying when our songs come on the radio, crying when something reminds me of him. And I hate the thought that I might stop crying someday, that I will someday be ok.

Thank you for your message and your words of wisdom. I am new to this group but I hope that at sometime I will be able to make some sense of the loss of my loving husband, and the new world that faces me. Karen
My husband was 3 months from retirement. Unrealized dreams
Our life is a changing journey
We each grieve in own way & in our own time
It's little steps...
Each day will pose its challenges
Do what you can, give yourself credit
Another day dawns, the ups & downs level out in time

When I read your post it is so similar to mine. Married 30 years, planning to go to Italy, just had our first grandbaby and thought we had more time than we did. I am I shock that my Tom is gone , 2 weeks tomorrow. He had stage 4 throat cancer and lost 70 lbs. he was at home on hospice for 2 weeks. My daughter and I were with him when he tom his last breath and I was holding his hand. The loom on his face will never be forgotten. I miss him so much, my stomach and my heart hurt. I cannot believe at 55 I am a widow. We had plans, we loved being together, we were the best of friends....now I can hardly breath. Big hugs to you and peace.
