When I got the final word on my wife it was a punch in the gut. Even though I knew she was gone there was something about seeing her name on the certificate that made it final. She also took pain killers from a car accident years before. I am certain that over the years these pills damaged her heart and caused a heart attack. The report said accidental mixing of her medicine but that wasn't possible. My wife had medical training to be a nurse and knew medications and was very strict with herself when it came to this sort of thing. Get someone to go with you if possible. I went alone it was tough.
Peace, Tim
I'm not sure if I can get anyone to go with me tomorrow, it was somewhat short notice.
I'll try to see if anyone wants to go with me...
Peace, Tim
It's too much, just too much. And, every public institution wants one; Insurance companies, banks, lawyers......everyone wants one. It feels like they're meddling, meddling into your life, into his/her life! Is nothing sacred?
I'm so sorry that you're at this point......It will pass. Soon this certificate will not hold so much weight, powerf and importance. You will be able to file it away!
Stay strong for you,
Roz
So was going to pick up her wedding ring and lip ring from the crematorium and almost being denied them because we were domestic partners (both women), and it was before gay marriage was completely legal.
Gay marriage was made legal when my wife proposed and then a stay was put on further gay marriages for a couple more years during which our beautiful wedding occurred and then she died. It will always kill me that the law prevented me from being truly married to my wife while she was alive.
But the death certificate, yeah, get it, because you will need to use it again and again. I have. It always breaks my heart to do it, but I have to. So I do.
