I feel so broken and alone

My husband died 9 years ago - but the sadness and loneliness are still hanging on my heart. Yesterday, my adult granddaughter who was so close to both of us, told me never to contact her again.. This has happened so many times since J.R. died - and I'm so fragile.. She is married to a narcissistic, controling guy (a police officer no less) and he doesn't want her to have anything to do with me.. I need help in accepting this last stab in my heart.  I'm 73 and so hurt that she could be so cruel.. I feel completely alone and it scares me.. Being without my husband/friend has been a long journey that I've walked all the way.  Thanks for listening with your hearts..

Sorry to hear of your loss and loneliness. Is it time to reach out to other family and friends for support? Can you join an organization which might lead to new friendships?

You were my age then, when you were widowed. Did you not want to remarry?
I think that would be my best option, if it were to happen. It's not uncommon to be ditched after a loss. Did your granddaughter state a reason why she didn't want to have any further contact with you? People can be cruel, and you often find out in a hurry who your true friends and family are. I am trying to carve out a new life for myself, but i'ts not easy.

Suzanne, I am so sorry for the pain you are feeling. I can’t understand why your granddaughter would abandon you and hurt you. When it comes down to it, we all are alone in our grief. We have to bear it alone and not lean too heavily on anyone else. Each have their own lives. Can you get out and do things? Maybe if you go to church, join a Senior Group or something similar, you would feel better. We need human contact. God bless you and help you with your loneliness. He is a friend to those in need......Linda

It hurts when a person you rely on doesn't reciprocate. So sorry for the brokenness and the loneliness.

Grateful I own my home. Grateful for good friends and neighbors who watch over me. Grateful to God for His everlasting love and patience with me. Grateful I survived the 10 years since my wife of 30 years...
