Hi Everyone, I lost my husband in October. He was dx with an aggressive form of cancer in September and was gone by October. He was my best friend and we did everything together. I am lost without him. We are both retired and we had purchased a RV last year. We were supposed to be traveling and seeing the country together starting in January. The holidays are so hard. I know that he is in peace and happy with no pain and sharing a new life with Jesus. We are both saved but, that knowledge doesn't help my grief and pain. It comforts me but, I miss him so much. I am hoping to talk with other widows that understand what I'm going through. I don't think people understand unless they have been there. Thanks for listening. Nettiec

Dear Nettiec, I am so sorry you lost your dear husband. You have come to the right place here on DS to help you, everyone gives comfort and understanding and we will talk to you on your journey of pain, which is like a wild roller coaster ride. I know the hardest part is losing the future plans of traveling in your RV. Do you still have your RV? Just cry, it helps heal a little bit, and tears make you a little dehydrated, so please drink lots of water, eat well, try and sleep well. Your journey is to take care of yourself now, and try to remember all the good, good loving memories of your life with your husband.

My husband died just 4 months ago in August, and I'm just coming out of the shock and trauma of it, and just fading away from the memory of his illness and pain, and now remembering the good memories and love. Take care, Nettiec, come here often, we will be here for you. Hugs, Nanette

Hello Folks!
Lost my wife of and sole mate of 42 yrs, two yrs ago to a nasty case of cancer! We were both retired, and looking at doing some extensive traveling when we discovered she had Cancer!
I Was very lucky where we had some very close friends that have stuck by me and helped me thru the past 2 yrs.
The holidays are the worst time of the yr. for me, So I've been traveling just to keep me busy, and away from home! This Thanksgiving I accepted a friends invitation and joined them with their family down in MO, and will be with friends the night before Christmas. As for Christmas, and New Yrs. they are up in the air right now!

Im sorry that your bestfriend/husband passed away. I remember all too well the beginning of the grief... we are here for you.. big hugs carla

Hi! New to the group. Yesterday was the one year anniversay of my wife's passing. Feeling the pain, and sorrow and missing her more today. My councilor advised trying to go through my wife's clothing and start donating. I don't know if I'm ready or can even do it.
She said this would be a step forward in trying to move on with my life.
How has everyone else handled this?
