Thanks to all of you,I'am glad that this first is almost over. turning 58 is bad enough, But I made it through the day without jamie.well i think she probably got me through this. and all of you helped. i have never been one to feel sorry for myself, but today i have felt this way and that really upsets me.i never felt the connection with jamie today but i know she must have got me through this because i was a real mess starting the day and i made it through, and i actually feel relieved now. so i guess you just go on until the next first happens.Ray

Happy Birthday Ray. I know this is a very sad day for you but try to hold close the memories of all the joyous special occasions you celebrated together. My Randy's birthday is coming up Dec 1 and I am trying to come up with a way to celebrate him on this first birthday without him. I will be thinking of you and wishing you good thoughts tonight. Thanks Dawn, this has been one of those first's. tough but now ready for the next first. i really wish i had an answer for your first. i really have never been one to want to celebrate my b-day but jamie always wanted to. at 30 i got hives, and the older i got b-days didn't mean as much as when i was young. you will get through it fine because randy will help you. have a great night. happy birthday, not sure I even remember the 1st birthday after Stan died , didn't want to have Thanksgiving or Christmas, but because of family had to and got through it some way.. Now in january it will be 2 years and I can honestly say all things are so much better, So it is true it gets easier as time goes by. know it is hard to believe but hang in there. i will be thinking of you on your birthday. patsye

Well, Ray, we are birthday twins; I also turned 58 on Nov 15. And, like you, it is about 10 weeks since Rick died. Similarly this was not a good birthday. I canceled it. Started on Facebook, left a post asking people to please ignore my birthday, that I just wasn't able to recognize or celebrate it. DId not bring in the obligatory donuts to work, and repeated my request to ignore the birthday to everyone who called or emailed me during the day. I tore up the few cards I received.

Childish? Yeah, a little. But that's Okay - I needed to do that. This was my "first first" and it was much harder than expected.

Ray, I'm hopeful that you & I will have a better birthday next year.
