I lost my best friend, soulmate and love of my life 3 months ago today. Everyone tells me each day will be better but it’s not it seems to get worse each day. I so miss his smiling face

It is going to get much worse as time passes, but you have to go through that to get to the better part. I am just pass 6 months. good days and absolutely horrid ones. Hugs and strength

You are probably just getting out your shock period, and you don't have that self-defense mechanism anymore protecting you from the pain. So yes, it does get worse and worse and worser still. Perfectly normal in your new world of grief. Hell, I thought I'd be good in 2 weeks. Now, 29 months later, I can function, think (that's a big one), but my memory continues to be like Swiss cheese. But the pain is nearly gone, and I am able to have fun and live life. I make the best of my circumstances, but truth be told, I am still screwed up. One thing I can't seem to control is how I near instantly fall head over heals in love with women. My love is real, but I have such stupid judgment, all I can do is laugh at myself for being such an idiot. I call it a tender heart. Just accept that this is all going to take a while for you. Broken hearts take a very long time to heal. This is the best place for you to be because you can make friends that are exactly where you are. For those of us that have no one in their life, this site can be a lifesaver. God bless and comfort you. Scottie

I feel like the idea that time heals is the biggest lie. It seems to only get worse, but what time does do is teach you how to handle the pain better. I know that doesn't seem like something to look forward to, but it helps you get through the days when you can carry your pain better. My thoughts are with you.

We are all doing some dance form shown in this animation. We are kind of "in loop" mode until one day we decide to walk away - not to completely forfeit the treasured memories, but to move forward.

    Today I feel grateful. Grateful for my dog Blue (Blue Jean Baby Queen, Prettiest girl I've ever seen). Grateful I'm still kickin'. Grateful I'm finally taking responsibility for my health. Grateful I own my home. Grateful for good friends and neighbors who watch over me. Grateful to God for His everlasting love and patience with me. Grateful I survived the 10 years since my wife of 30 years...
