For those of us who have young children, how are we going to keep our spouse's memories alive. For those of us with even younger kids how do to introduce our deceased spouse to our children as they get older?
A few weeks ago I visited my cousin-in-law. My kids were present when he spoke about Brent. My kids, especially my younger (13 years old) kept on saying 'we did not know that about daddy, why didn't he tell us?)
October will be the anniversary of his death.
I am thinking of calling people who were close to Brent to write something about him. In this way they will get to know him better even though he is gone.
When he passd away one of the men whom Brent was training wrote a tribute to Brent. The trainee's grandfather died young. His father told him that people wrote his dad letters about his grand-dad and how much that meant to him. This young man's e-mail generated my idea.
What do you think, anyone has any ideas? I would be happy if you share.

He lived life. He had a Mom and Dad and a family before he was their Dad.
Make one for each child to have and to keep, to show his/her children so they will know about their Grandfather and his life.
I wish someone had done this for me about my Grandmother's whom I never knew and still know nothing about. There always was a huge void in my life.
Don't let there be voids in your children's lives. Brent lived a life, albeit too short but he lived and his children need to know about his life.
It'll be cathartic for you to do this. Enjoy!

Yes..that's an n amazing idea!!! The girls would have those letters to cherish and as the get older, those letters will encourage and inspire them.....They will get a glimpse into the special person their Dad, was
I find, whenever we have family get-togethers...our stories always include Ben....His personality, was just so vibrant and full of life...He left his mark in this world ..That's for sure!! Everybody has their own special memories. My children are older..they love to keep their Dad's
Memory alive.
I believe those stories will keep, their Dad, in their hearts forever.

I forgot to mention....my 3 bigger grandchildren have their stories too.
I love to hear them join in with their stories ....Ben is in their hearts too!!!

My kids have a hard time with those dad and me kind of school activities. My dad does not live near here so having him fill in is not possible. My kids just don't like to explain things to other kids. I also took a clue from the kids about making a memorial garden and we are supposed to be working on the plans. So far the boys want one of those concrete deer.
