Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.

I, too, am a "young" widow at 50 now, and sick of being told how young I am. Yes, I dye my hair, just not confident enough to be as gray as I am. I have started wearing my makeup again, because I just can't stand seeing my haggard self in the mirror any longer. I'm pretending I am 50 going on 38. Why 38? Because I really enjoyed being 38.....but then I remember how safe, secure, loved and warm I felt when I was 38 and then I brought back to reality. So I guess I'll just continue my "young" wild and crazy ways of spending my nights in front of the computer, a book or the television, with my spoiled rotten pooch.
Hugs & smiles to all,
Cathy
I stayed single until my late 30's and then met the love of my life, Jerry, who is still the love of my life. Carla, I so agree with you that "he will be my last."
Cathy mentioned how she feels like 38 and enjoyed being 38. I can
really relate to the wonderful age of 38 because that is when I met Jerry in Chicago while waiting for a bus to the commuter train. Just thinking about that time now brings back a lot of warm and loving memories - yes, 38 was a wonderful year!!
