I wanted to let you all know what I have been doing to cope with the recent loss of my husband almost 2 months ago.  Maybe it will help someone else.  Due to others in my family falling to depression from loss, I know I need to fight.  I told my husband that I would be alright, that he could leave when he was too tired to fight anymore and I vow everyday to myself to do so.  I have been tempted to fill this hole in myself with things I shouldn't but just stop myself.  The other week I thought to myself I have got to find a positive outlet or I am going to fail in my promise to my husband.  I was led to the gym near my job site and I joined it.  I am now taking up punching the bag in a boxer stance.  This is letting me vent my anger at my loss and anything else that pops up to wear me down.  And for the first time in months I am able to go to sleep at night.  I don't always sleep through the night but I get more rest.  This may not be for everyone but I find it is working to take some of the pressure off so I don't feel like I am losing the battle with my grief.  I hope I am explaining this well.  I also find for me personally that it helps to be around someone who doesn't dwell on what you are going through but how they can help you feel "normal" for a bit.  They also let you talk about things in bits and pieces and they just listen.  Anyway I hope maybe this helps someone else.
