what I discovered I miss is the annoying things. like if I was driving and he would talk to me and say honey look at me and I would yell I cant look at you and drive at the same time. I also keep waitig for him to start tickling me or poking at me so he could get attention

That is funny. Rob used to be very careful when opening up bags, potatoto chips, etc., when i would just tear it opened. Well now that's what I do. I have always been a person who kind of rushes and can be clumpsy because of it. Rob was my warning system to slow down, be careful. I had one instance since he died that I could have really gotten hurt, feel off the dock because it was slippery and I was rushing. I think Rob saved me that day and ever since I here his voice and have become quit cautious. Good post. You probably hit on something that happens often. hug, Donna

I miss everything about my hunny from the way he said "babe come home because I miss you" when he was off or when he was sick and would say "I need my favorite nurse to nurture nurture and spoil me" Things like this I truly miss and also on days like today when it was cloudy he'd say "let's take the day off and do nothing" I miss watching work on cars at the shop with his cut off sleeves and askng me to go get him something to eat or drink. There are so many more things I could write but I'd take too much time and space.

Oh wait I catch my self doing that he did and totally annoyed me was surfing thru the channels and radio stations.

The one thing I do now that just blows some of my family away is this:
I listen to the local High School football game on my radio on Friday nights...and I don't even like football!!! But that was how our Friday nights were spent...Snake listening to the game & me playing on my computer...now I just automatically reset the dial and listen to the game while I do my stuff online....I still particularly like football, but I'll admit to feeling good when I hear "Touchdown, Bucks" and a winning score by the boys in green shirts... GO BUCKS!!!!! LOL

I used to drive Gerry crazy with leaving hair in the hairbrush. I have long black hair that gets in the brush. I was forever just grabbing his brush because it was closer or I had left mine in the bedroom or something and he would go to brush his hair and have long black hairs in his face. Funny but now I clean out the brush every time I use it.

Why does THAT not surprise me, Floyd? :-)

Your post made me think.......yes I do a lot of the things Jim wanted me to do......when I disagreed before. Funny thing is......I can't even remember why I disagreed. Thanks for the lighthearted post.

Watching his channel for world news in the evening. I always preferred channel 6 and he insisted on channel 8. When he moved into assisted living I started watching my channel, just because I could. However, I found when I called him in the evenings and we discussed the news, he was still watching channel 8, and it became easier to discuss things if we had both watched the same channel, so I switched back to channel 8. After he died I just kept watching his channel. laurabp

That's funny - we did the same with the toilet paper rolls and we'd always laugh about it. I'd take anything to have him back and those little irritating things wouldn't be irritating anymore. He used to tell me things when he was repairing something and I wish I would have listened more closely. He could fix anything and I'm a klutz!!! Take care, Sandra

Oh - I do have a funny toilet paper roll story - and one that makes me believe that Mark is there with me. When we first started dating and I would come to the house to stay - I would use the master bathroom. The sink and vanity are right next to the toilet and the toilet paper holder is attached to the side of the vanity cabinet. He would always have the toilet paper off the holder and just sitting either on the holder rod or on the edge of the vanity. I would go to the bathroom and put the paper on the holder. He would go in and take it back off. Finally, he said "Boo Boo, Please leave the toilet paper off the holder. When my big a** is on the throne (LOL), I can't reach over to get the toilet paper off the holder. So, I just left it off for 5 years.
After Mark passed away, his daughter Rachel and I were staying in our room and I went to the bathroom. I thought, well guess I can put the paper back on the holder once again and I did. Rachel went in and went to the bathroom and everything was fine. Later that day, I went in and sat down to go to the bathroom - reached for the toilet paper that was on the holder; the toilet paper rod sprung loose from the holder - the toilet paper went flying across the floor and I sat there laughing so hard and saying "OK Boo, Boo I'll leave it off the holder" !! Guess he was still telling me how it was going to be..................

Funny you should mention toilet paper. Barbara used to prefer just propping it on top of the roller so she could grab the whole darn roll and take what she wanted. Whenever I put it back on the roller, I would find it back off on my next visit to the bath room. Oh, the little things, huh??..............Joe....:-)

Thank you for this discussion!!! Yep, not the rolls of tissue but so many other stupid, mundane, day-to-day things! I sometimes will do something and will answer myself with his sayings! It feels good, but it does make me sad. I have also learned that he was so right in so many ways about so many things. I learned so much from him and I feel so blessed that I was a part of his life and he mine for so many years. He was always making jokes and could start a conversation with a tree if there was no one else around! It was great! I am actually trying to emulate him in so many things -- this is my way of honoring his teachings!!!
