Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
I joined this group 10 years this June after my wife Cindy pasted away from alcohol abuse. I found her dead on our couch . I found some good friends here that helped me one was a lady from Australia her husband pasted away in march the same year as my wife whom pasted away in April as time went by we exchanged phone number .Me living in Pittsburgh PA and her in Sydney Australia it wasnt easy to talk but we did and feelings started to grow .so a year and a half after our spouses had pasted away I moved to be with her . I have been in Australia for just over 8 years now and I know this sounds like a happy ending . But its not just before the end of the year Wendy my new spouse was having stomach pains so she went to the doctor he did bloodwork and the next day he called her and told her she was in liver failure and to go to the ER .we spent 12 hours there them doing scans , X-Rays and blood work . They told her she could go home and someone would get in touch with her after new year .we went to 2 doctors appointments finding out she has cancer they then did a liver biopsy and on the 13 of Janaury we saw a oncologist thinking we would start kemo or something to fight it . We were told there wasnt anything they could do for her she was going to die ,she saw a second oncologist hoping for a second opion only to find out the cancer is spreading fast and they said she had anywhere between a few hours to a few days left but the papers the doctors gave us said she would start showing signs of her getting close in around 2 weeks , they said this cancer is rare and fast growing . So far its been just over a week since they told us this . Wendy was always big on getting blood work done and having her liver function checked and she was due so this happened very fast its not easy seeing someone so active and strong who played sport most of her life go so fast . Its so hard not to get mad and feel I have already gone through this crap and dissolve something better I dropped everything to move to be with her and now I am looking at a life without her being alone again in a foreign country and to just watch her slowly go is so hard . I am sorry everyone is here and I am not glad to be back but here I am good luck and best wishes

Today I feel grateful. Grateful for my dog Blue (Blue Jean Baby Queen, Prettiest girl I've ever seen). Grateful I'm still kickin'. Grateful I'm finally taking responsibility for my health. Grateful I own my home. Grateful for good friends and neighbors who watch over me. Grateful to God for His everlasting love and patience with me. Grateful I survived the 10 years since my wife of 30 years...

gentle hugs as I am at a lost of comforting words but wanted to you to know that someone is paying attention and cares,
They say we don't get more than we can bare, but in this instance I too would be so very angry and full of questions why.
I just lost my husband just over 2 weeks ago so I am just learning how to deal with this as I go. I too have no words to comfort you. May it help you both to know that others do care. God bless.
I can only try to imagine what you're going through. Imagining and being in that position are two totally different things. My thoughts are with you is all I can say.
You might want to talk to CL Sharon on this site as she has gone through the same as you and might be better suited to discussing this situation with you.
I can empathize with you regarding the liver cancer diagnosis. It's almost seven years for me and my wife got the same diagnosis of a rapid advancing strain of liver cancer. The difference was that the doctor(s) failed to inform me, or her, that she wasn't going to make it. That of course left us with no goodbyes, or see you later discussions, of any kind. Still makes my blood boil even after all this time.
I hope that you can get through this intact and hope you have people around you that can support you.
My husband had liver and throat cancer. It was so hard to see him slip away. All I can say is to reach out to loving caring people. Take care of yourself as best you can. You are in my prayers.
That has been tough enough to deal with so far. I cannot imagine finding my way trough this only to have to repeat this awful process and I am sorry you have to.
I hope you find a way.
Best wishes
Joe
