Hi Zana. I'm sorry about your recent losses. Yes, they say that grief rewrites your address book and I am definitely seeing that. I think this may be especially true if most of your friends were other couples. I am glad that you found this site, although sorry you had to find it. There are a lot of people here who understand what you are going through.

Losing a spouse, its world changing..Everything i used to feel feels different..I feel different. I have no time for people who whine..my patience is gone..my caring is almost gone too. Your address book changes in grief. ..people whom i thought were my friends are not in it anymore. I was married for 36 years it is like i am dead too.

I was married, shy 6 weeks, for 39 years. In our newspaper, the local hospital has listings of support groups, this would be a way to meet people in our same predicament. Also, a church may offer support groups.
Do you have hobbies, interests that might acquaint you with others?

He passed 19 days shy of our 38th anniversary. My 64th birthday was 2 days before he passed. I so want my carefree attitude back, no care in the world about tomorrow. As it is, I could probably never get up. But I have a daughter w/couple sons and a son w/4 children. I love my grandkids and I want to be around till I'm 80 or so for them. Is it too much to ask? God only knows.

Zana, I feel your pain and I am very sorry. Just joined this site TODAY out of desperation. I know what feeling alone is all about. My life ended when my husband died June 2 of ALS. We were married 25 years and I did not realize how thoroughly I had built my life around his. We had no children. Our social life was built on his work, fishing buddies, 3 very grown children from first marriage and his many many friends. But no one was there to help me when I tackled the impossible task of his care by myself. It was horrible and long and debilitating... moving him, changing him, washing him, feeding him.... on and on for 2 years. ALS takes the lives of more people than just have the disease. His misery ended, and mine continues. I am 66 (he was 79 when he died) and I moved to a senior retirement facility - which is just condos. No services. So here I am in a place - strange to me, waking up every morning thinking his body is behind mine and literally without a life. My phone never rings... It's hard for me to imagine at this point looking for activities and new companions - I'm too depressed and not that outgoing. I sit here. I just sit here. This is pathetic but I needed to get it out somehow. Can't afford counseling. I live on SS so options are limited. Ugh. Feel the need to apologize to anyone who got to the end of this mess, but I'll say thank you instead.

First sorry about your loss. I am in the same boat as you. No one calls on his (my husband family) it makes you mad but in time you will get over it. Ask God to help you and he will. God has really gave me peace but at all times you have to just trust in him and ignore that pain if that make sense. In my case I really think God is making me learn to have peace with him don't always have some family members around if that make sense

we are all very lonely and I'm sorry for your sadness and I certainly understand. I lost my husband April 2016 after 40 years of marriage, I feel so lost friends are around for the first while then they get on with there life and expect that you can do the same but the days are long and nights even longer when you dont have your partner. I also just sit with my TV, were can you go meet friends. I'm 66 years old not so easy to start over. M y first time on this site and I can tell that I'm not alone in this pain. I also wait for the phone to ring just o talk to someone.

Zana, I'm sorry for the loss of your Love...My husband Dennis of 50 years passed in his sleep,suddenly of a heart attack on 6/14/15..I'm 71, and know it's hard to think at our age what lies a head for us..But I have to tell you at almost 20 months into this journey through grieve, I'm doing OK..
I still have days of sadness and I miss him everyday..I'm fortunate to have great family support..And I'm grateful for all the years we had together, Dennis was, is a good man...I know I'll see him again..I don't belong to any organized religion..but I do believe in a higher power. We weren't perfect, but we were perfect for each other...
Sometimes we have to make the effort, ourselves and reach out to friends and family..I found
people sometimes think they are bothering you or reminding you of your loss..
Just remember Zana, as fortunate as your were too have had your husband in your life, he was just as fortunate to have had you in his..
We might have missed the pain, if we had never married, Zana, but then we would have missed the dance of Love and Life...;-)
