I am already thinking about it so much, and the feelings are overwhelming to say the least. I am determined though to have a good time with the kids, Look at that Wi moon, shed alot of tears, and know that when I see that moon, or our kids having a great time, that he'll be there in spirit seeing it all right along with me.
I hope the cruise is a WONDERFUL happy one, and I believe that your love will be seeing it through your eyes and heart too!
Go and have a GREAT time...for both of you!!!!

Here's what's interesting - after he died someone asked me if we had a song and what came to mind was "Total Eclipse of the Sun" bc the video played over and over again on TV while we were on our honeymoon in Mexico. After he died I got a CD with the song & I played it over and over in the car. So on the flight to LV I wondered if my husband was aware of what we were doing. A movie is played on the flight - a song in the movie? - "Total Eclipse of the Sun" - I've never heard it in any other movie. I took it as a sign for us - somehow. I hope you can put your anxiety aside and have a good time.
My 3 children, their spouses, and 4 grandsons went on a Caribbean Disney Cruise -- left on the date of Joe's death (my birthday). We decided -- before we left that we WOULD have a good time. We knew that Joe would have had a great time, so, we enjoyed the cruise. (yes, I shed some tears on my private balcony
and that was ok too.)
So, I know you can do this. We all have some "guilt" at times, but, I have also found that guilt is a wasted emotion. It certainly doesn't make one feel better and the situation doesn't change with guilt. (but, we still have it). I am learning to let those feelings go from things that I cannot change. You can too.
HAVE FUN!

Sometimes it helps just having something of his to take with you, so that symbolically at least he is going with you. It might also be a good opportunity to do some journal writing. My guess is that you will have a lot of mixed emotions pop up, and writing them in a journal may help you release them.
For a long time, wherever I went, I had the "Cliff would have loved this" thought. Then one day, there was live music across from where I worked. I thought "I wish Cliff could be here - he would have loved to see this." Then I was struck with the thought, "Hang on, he's got the best seat in the house!" (in Heaven). From that point on, I felt that he is free to be wherever and whenever he wants to be, although he can't be with me physically. I pictured him free and happy. That helped. May sound weird, but it really helped.
I hope you enjoy the trip. Love and Hugs, Martha
and I did take along 'little Mike' a stuffed elephant I bought him the last time he was in the hospital...he travelled with us and I even took pics of him at various spots...Mike would have gotten a kick out of that!
Enjoy your time away...expect some tears...but know that you are loved. Jill
