Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
I do prefer being part of a couple, so did Cliff. It's why we each promised the other that if anything happened that whoever was left would go ahead and try to find love again. I didn't try to find love again, it found me - love is kind of like that sometimes.
I am sorry you are having to go through this.
Love and Big Hugs,
Martha
There are a couple of passages written regarding this aspect of loss. For brevity, I am including the links to them

Our couple friends we went to dinner with, movies with, rode horseback with, snowmobiled with all act like I have the plague. Even when in our small mountain community has get togethers I sit by myself IT ALL makes me feel more alone. Yes I can sit by them and converse for a few words than shut down. Its been 5 years and its still the same.
I, too, miss being part of a couple. The grief of this loss is so real.
Although, I don't think I'll ever want to live with someone again. I don't think my heart could take it!
Mary, I so understand what you're feeling.
Roz
Peace, Tim
I feel like I'm simply existing... like I'm on hold. I see others flying by me and my car is stalled on the freeway...
I'm starting to get a little preachy too, like when a coworker scoffed when his wife called him during the day... oh man how I wish my wife would call me again... I just started crying telling him to never feel that way about his wife... and I was probably a crying, slobbering fool of a person too... oh well.
She was always there, in the background.
Hell ever looking at pictures of our old house, I knew she was inside alive at the time I took that picture...
Roads we drove on, parking lots we parked at. Restaurants we ate at, places we walked hand in hand. Grocery shopping, movies, date night... all gone.
