Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
I think time depends on your bond with the one you lost. I never knew or thought loosing Ray would be so hard on me. Not that I ever thought about his dying, I thought in my mind we'd be together for many more years. His surgery was just a little glitch in life.
We can tell by your posts you two had a great relationship, so you and I (I'm at 7 weeks) will be writing about our 1-2-3yr anniversaries and how much we miss them.
* seems about right for me
am so sorry for causing you more pain.... such a rough road
I started having all the above well before Jim passed (partly menopause), but I read someone's recent DS post in reference to anxiety "it's not about being weak, but being strong for too long". This totally resonated within me, as I recognized I had been too strong for most of my life.
Do you think that you've perhaps tried to be too strong during the past 4.5 years and not allowed room for full on grief? Just posing the question as something to ponder, no judgement.
As for meds, I am on a low dosage of Lexipro I take on a daily basis and I have a script for Klonapin that I take only as needed for anxiety. They both work wonders for me in helping me sleep and doing simple things, like driving, grocery shopping and being out in public at large. I don't feel numb or drugged. I'm still grieving and have the ability to truly feel my emotions, so it's not a cop out or quick fix bandage for grief. Again, I was prescribed the above prior to hubby passing . . .
I wish you well in your quest and search to find a solution to your ongoing and prolonged grieving. It must be very difficult for you. I'm truly sorry for your loss. Sending healing thoughts your way. xo, Dayna
