My grandson proposed to his girlfriend and our family was invited to a family dinner hosted by her parents. Just imagine going without your loved one. He held our grandson 28 years ago just after he was born. I sat in the restaurant and while everyone was laughing and talking, I was thinking how proud he would have been seeing his grandson taking the first steps to marriage. I could just see him and my grandson exchanging dos and don'ts on two of them becoming ONE. It was a long and lonely dinner, but I had to go because we love our grandson so very much. Even though he wasn't there physically, I truly believe his spirit was.
I know how hard it is to go to gatherings without our loves. I was thrown into a 60th birthday celebration for my BIL. Nobody understood why I was sad and crying. All I could think about was how MY Tim would have enjoyed seeing everyone and being at the celebration.

I know when I see our children, I blush with the pride that we both once shared and smile at the evidence of our love!
