It's been two weeks since I adopted my rescue dog. Funny, I'd wanted a dog for so long, but after my husband passed, I feared what would happen to the dog if something happened to me. I don't mean something tragic like death, but short-term tragedies where I can't get home.
Enter technology. I purchased one of those feeders that you can set to release food at a certain time. It allows you to record your voice, so I can call her same as if I'm there. I also purchased one of those dog water things you hang on the side of the cage. She loves drinking from it and it can last for days. I can hang more than one and some hold 48 ounces of water..
I'm posting this to make a point not only about dogs, but humans too. Many of us are afraid to live by ourselves going forward, yet are not interested in remarrying or living with someone. We think of what if something happens and we are alone. Well, I've checked into some of the stuff that is either here now, or is coming.
Including:
-A robot that can give you your pills, check your vitals and allow two way visual conversations with the doctor.
-Cars that can drive themselves. Great for people who can no longer drive.
-Smart houses that will report if you fall or change your pattern throughout the day. Say, you usual sit down to watch TV in a certain room and you don't show up. The smart house would contact you by phone. If you don't answer, it will contact your emergency number.
--devices you can wear even outside. So, if you're in your garden and you fall, press the button and help arrives.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...

companion for my dgt when I am not home, security, and therapy for both me and my dgt. Actually I am likely getting a second one in the spring. Gerald As for the rest of your post yes there are many ways to adapt to living alone. Wishing you well. Gerald
I'm in my 40s now, and to be honest, I enjoy living alone and I don't see myself ever remarrying or even dating. I just don't have that need. I have less than ten years until retirement and I'm trying to get myself into traveling alone. Still a little anxiety there, but I'm working on it.
Again, thank you for making me smile today and realize that there are ways to be safe in my own home.
