OK, I was dreading New Years Eve alone and a friend (a widow of about 2 years) invited me to go with her band to a new years eve event. They were playing at a Yacht Club in Ventura (CA). I decided to go (every once in a while you have to give in to the "get out of the house" crowd) and also it allowed my son have some friends over for a party at the house.
We arrive at the event and the band sets up and is playing, I am just sitting at one of the tables with the members of the club. All in all it was OK as the poeple ranged from 45 - 65 and I fit in fairly well (except for the rich part :-). Sue during the second song announces "by the way, my friend Peter of here is by himself, so ladies if you need a dance partner...". It turns out about a third of the Yacht Club members are widows and I only got to sit out half a dozen dances, by midnight my feet were killing me.
Certainly not like any new years eve I had in the past, but I honestly didn't have time to be miserable.

WOW - you could go on cruise ships ,and lots of places here in FL and have the time of your life!!! If you ''Drive at Night'' , as they said on the Golden Girls, all the better!!!! Seriously, that sounds so great - as I was reading your post, I didn't know what your reaction would be - but you made the best of it, in good humor. Women LOVE to be held and dance - being held is the operative word. Your widow friend was also caring about you. Most of my friends - couple friends ,keep telling me to ''get out there'' - like ''boom'' here I am - so far, nobody has included me, or offered to introduce me to anyone. They are in different social circles, (better ones then mine), and in different activities that might have people I could meet. I think they are afraid to suggest it, because they might think I would be insulted, and I don't know how to broach the subject. Right now I am looking for FUN, not a lasting relationship - but who knows? I watch movies - BooM and there he is - isn't that the way it works??? ha ha ha. Anyway - hope your feet are back to normal, and that you continue to have a good old time dancing into the nigh for the rest of the yeart!!!! If you are ever in FL ha ha ha...... .

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
