I went to an old classmate's funeral today, he was also a shirt tail cousin by marriage. His older brother Dan and I were actually classmates, David was 57, he died like my husband died last week, just suddenly got up dropped over with massive heart attack.
Dan his brother and I were friends in school, actually I named my son after him (well his last name - Scott) We always called him "snotty Scotty" and I always remember calling down the hall heah SCOTT it stuck forever. We were both real short people in school. I did not get to met his wife as it was packed. But it was nice to see other class mates - I told Dan about my Roger - told him to tell David's widow it does get easier but still sad.
The minister said today was a sad day and a happy day but not a bad day. A happy day because David was now in heaven with God with wonderful things for him. Sad because he was not here with us, but not a bad day. I guess I kinda liked that - he said we needed to find the Lord before we go to make it happy for us when it was our turn.
I thought about how he was a UPS driver which I got reacquainted with as he dropped packages off at my friends western shop - he walked up to me & said you do not remember me do you - I did not he was so tall none of the other members are tall. Than he retired, ~ 1 yr ago. Sad because his young Grandkids although they are old enough to know him but too young to have too many memories.
He was a good fun guy....

"Everything that lives, will one day die"...not much consolation, but it is the circle of life. We need to tell our loved ones each day how much we care about and treasure them. Gotta keep the faith.......

I thought of the following statement:
The life we live one day at a time here on Earth comes and goes so quickly like a vapor in comparison with the Light of Eternity in Heaven.
To me it sums up this earthly life that I had no idea I clung to so tightly while in my marriage with my beloved wife who has passed onto to be with the Lord in Heaven. Letting go of those we love is painful.
