Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.

I'm glad you will soon experience on a daily basis the peace and comfort needed to travel this road of recovery. I hope you don't second-guess yourself on this issue. In the future if help is needed for your father, that doesn't mean that you have an obligation to move back in with him. There are other "creative opportunities" to meet his future needs.
Upon your move to freedom, celebrate and do a happy dance!!! TJ
Take care, Sandra
I'll check on both of them. I just think it will be cruel to lock the dog up in a cage all day while I work. I'll probably get an already older rescue dog, which is what I wanted in the first place. I had always intended to get this one for my father. It's just that I fell in love with this cute little bundle of fur and wanted to keep him. Still, I realize how selfish this is. I admit I was in denial about my father up until now, but even under the worst circumstances in the past, with my old dog, he was great with him and my dog loved him dearly. In fact, on the night my dog got real sick, my father sat up all night with her, fanning her because a storm knocked out power. I guess that's why this is so incredibly hard. I see that sort of kindness, but when it comes to people, the knife in the back is not far behind.

I do feel for the dog. Are you really sure it will be treated well?
Blessings, Debbie
If you'll be away 12 hours a day, that's too long for an older dog too. I
have one, the older he gets, the more he needs someone with him because of his health.
