Today was my first Valentine's too. It was harder than Thanksgiving and Christmas (he died in Oct) maybe because I was surrounded by family during the holidays. I've cried and yelled today. Finally went for a walk. We will both feel better in time. I try to focus on the love we shared for so many years and according to my therapist I was blessed to be able to love someone like that for so many years. Peace and hugs to you.

I am sorry for your lost. Thank you for your response. Yesterday was much harder than Christmas. My husband died 2 days after Thanksgiving. He was never into the holidays but he would celebrate because he knew I enjoyed them. I always thought I'd grow old with him. You are right we will feel better in time. **hugs**

Time does heal the wounds. My first Valentines Day too. I had many people including my adult children wishing me a Happy Valentines day !! Made it easier..Just keep on believing there is a light. There is but it is hard to forget and move on when we had a love that by No choosing of their own they have gone.Grateful we had them at all..the memories help me keep it together. I now think what would he say and then smile..no laughing yet but i will take a smile :) Hugs to you

It was my first too and today is our anniversary. I have learned to just hang on and pray that it gets better.

My first Valentine's too. I went to work and thankfully my parents are staying with me this week which made it easier. Had a nice dinner with them and my son. . . keep praying that the days get easier.

I lost my wife of 51 years last September. Every first was hard,Christmas and New Years were the worst. After that I began to feel better. Be good to yourself. Don't expect to be perfect when you do something he used to do foe the first time. The crying gets better but it is always near the surface and you are surrounded by things that will trigger crying. When you can focus on the present and future you should feel better. I spent 3 months focused on the past and what was and will never be again.try not to do that

It was my 1st as well. Its been 60 days since my husband died. I ask myself those same questions. Will my heart ever feel again. Right now I can't imagine.

There will be many first that you are going to encounter and the pain is right at the top now, but the tears will diminish ever so slowly. You are dealing with the hardest time of your life and you have a child who depends on you. You will get stronger and time will help you figure it all out. We all went through it and continue to go through it everyday, but time is on your side and it will help.

Laalaa, this is my second Valentines day without Dennis, he passed 20 months ago, in his sleep of a sudden heart attack..Fine one day, gone the next...I talk to Dennis all the time, and ask him for signs he's around, and have received many..Just a couple of days before Valentines day I said I guess I won't be getting any yellow roses this year, my favorite..Then a couple of days before Valentines day, my neighbors who live 3 blocks away, and who I don't really know that well, other than to wave at in passing, knocked on my door and when I opened it they were standing there with two yellow roses, in white babies breath..She said I don't why I was just at the store and started thinking about you, and saw the two yellow roses and told her husband, I'm going to get those for Gail..There's my sign...
I've had so many from my skeptic,Dennis, a big one involving roses, that I've written about on here..Try finding Signs, posted 12/22/16 by Laurie and a couple other posts on the some subject.
