I can relate to what you are going through right now with needing to find a job on top of going through grieving your husbands passing. I found myself in very similar circumstances after my husband died. I couldn't go back to my old job even though I had been there 8 years - I left to take care of my husband and they hired someone part time to take my place and just spread out the work I did full time to other employees-this recession sucks! But I have some advice to give to you and hope you will ponder it. You need to give yourself time to really grieve. In retrospect, this is something I didn't do and it came to bite me after 11 months. I was so frantic to stay busy- helping my mom and looking for a job consumed my days. I got a job after just 4 months and lost it 6 months later. I was blindsided by this and that job loss brought up my husbands loss all over again. IT WAS AND STILL IS HORRIBLE. Took another job 3 months ago and I absolutely hate it (I'm in the dental field). I have the option of quitting and going down to Fla. to care for my mom so I'm lucky , I know. Please, if you can hold off a little longer with the job situation, do . You need to work through your grief and that alone is a full time job in the beginning. Unfortunately, we can't go back to life as we knew it before our spouses passed away, so we have to make sure we're ready emotionally to tackle what life has left in store for us - wishing you peace of mind and better days ahead!

I believe this is the hardest thing we will ever have to go through in our lifetime and it is a real struggle to know how to get through it, where do we go from here. We don't have our spouses to help us figure it out like we did when we had problems in the past
Don't give up on the job hunt as something is out there somewhere it just might take a little more time ...... where have we heard that before!Thinking of you and hoping you have better days ahead.....hugs

Nicola, be patient with yourself, if you can, do not stress over finding a job quickly, it's better to find the right job. The adjustment you are going through takes everything you've got and then some, so adding more stress to your life will keep you from doing the grief work you are doing to help you heal and move forward. We all need to incorporate a normal routine to our lives, but it takes time to get to a place where that can happen. Keep the search going, but do it slowly and don't stress if the interviews are not materializing, they will. Just do your part and let go of the outcome, the right job will come to you just at the right time. Trust that we are guided by divine powers and everything works out for the highest good. HUGS! I hate this recession. They say it;s getting better, but it seems even more difficult to find a job! And that only adds to your stress you are already dealing with while trying to raise your beautiful son.


My HOPES that something will come soon to you, and be what you need, as you deserve it to, for the both of you.

Keep trying, and don't worry for the ones that aren';t getting back to you. Their loss. When you land it you'll be great.
