Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
I use to tell people I was waking up to a night mare now in place of waking up from one. I have lost family members over the years, but I was not prepared for this type of grief at all. It is the deepest hurt I have ever felt. I constantly stay if prayer with God for relief.
Your right, when thinking about this, it feels like I'm on the outside looking in at me. My Lyn went home back in August and now it's been ten months. I am starting to accept more each day that when I get home from work she want be there. But the pain of missing her still gets me.
I think that denial for awhile keeps us sane. It shelters us from it until we are at a place when we can face it a little stronger. But again if it wasn't for my faith I am not sure where I would be with this.
But you have found a good place to start to heal. There are some great folks on here. They are compassionate and caring. The most important part, you will always find some here that is at the same point of healing as you are. Who better to relate to than people going thru it? There are also those who are further along who have good advice as far as what to expect down the road.
I am glad you found this place, but am very sorry you had a reason to. No one wants to be here.
Just take care of you and be patient with yourself. Do what you have to do to continue healing.
Peace, Tim
They say there is a reason,
They say that time will heal,
But neither time nor reason,
Will change the way I feel,
For no-one knows the heartache,
That lies behind our smiles,
No-one knows how many times,
We have broken down and cried,
We want to tell you something,
So there won't be any doubt,
You're so wonderful to think of,
But so hard to be without.

I think this is very common. My husband died of a sudden heart attack in 2011 and for the first year and a half, I really expected him to walk through the door. I think it takes awhile for your brain and heart to actually process that they are gone and this is now your life.
Denial is a coping mechanism for the brain. Be gentle with yourself, give yourself time to grieve and realize that you are not alone.
Hugs,
Val
when something big happens, I think I gotta tell Tommy but I know I can't :(
And I don't feel like it happening to me but I know it is
It's really sad
