Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
I want to welcome you to the group and I hope you find it a safe place to be understood. Hope to get to know you better. Sharon
That was a strong thing to do on behalf of your kids. It was probably too soon but you gave it a try. Folks just don't know what to say and honestly there are no words. I have tried to go back in my past when meeting someone who had suffered a loss and you know I was just as awkward as people are now. I guess that's why its best to protect yourself from those type of situations until some time goes by and your strong enough. Most importantly is to not forget to take care of you. Do what you need to do for you. Even with kids you have to heal yourself for yourself but also to have something for your kids to draw from. I wouldn't worry about feeling embarrassed. Anyone who didn't understand you reaction isn't worth the time. It's easy to see you were still grieving and needed more time. Just take are of you.
Peace, Tim
