Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
Do what you need to do - I am sure others will understand. I attended the funeral of a friends husband within weeks of my husbands - and found it so hard and sure I cried and cried - but everyone understood - and in fact were even surprised that I had attended.
Hugs
Debbie
The first year I avoided all funerals, weddings, wedding showers - anything that I knew I couldn't handle. I was up front with people and told them 'I just can't handle that right now' and they understood.
Do what YOU think is right and only as much as YOU think you can.
I'm sorry for your family's loss. Love and Hugs, Martha
Sorry for your loss.
Exit strategy is a good idea. Holding your feelings in is not.
Hugs, Holly
THe only thing you could see was like sky blue with brights lights on them. It made me feel so happy for him, he has missed my Aunt for two long yrs.
I wrote a poem about him for his funeral.
Re: My Mom she has been critical of how I grieve and she would be critical if I cried alot. I do not share my grief or anything about my feelings with her
I also have a mother that has been criticle of how I grieve, and she is a widow!! I love my mother, but she has been ZERO help since my husband was first diagnosed last June until he died in November, and is still absent in this process. I have learned to ignore her, I just behave as if nothing has happened when I am with her, or if I cannot and I am having a bad day, I cancel my plans with her. I am so done worrying about what anyone thinks any more.
