Widows & Widowers Support Group
This community is dedicated to those who have lost a husband, wife, or partner. Anything is open for discussion here, with the hope that we can focus on grief, bereavement, life after loss, and continuing on after a great loss.
I do hope the sun and warmth give you a renewed strength and peace from this cold, gray winter many of us have been enduring.
Safe travels!! Deb
I love to drive, I'm not afraid to go far......let's go!
I live in L.A., the weather is glorious. Come on, fly in, write me, let me know you're here. I'll take off work, pick you up and we're outta here!
First, we'll go up the coast Highway 101, we'll visit Solvang, The Madonna Inn, Hearst Castle, Carmel & Monterey. Then we'll drive back down and go over to Las Vegas for a lot of R&R and some fun. I'm not much of a gambler or drinker we'll just do a lot of people watching, shows and good eating. Then we'll drive back towards L.A. and go to San Pedro for a one week cruise to San Francisco, Santa Barbara, San Diego and Mexico.
Now, we don't have to do EVERYTHING all at once. We can take our time and do it in increments.
Whew, I'm exhausted. Let me know when you're ready for some travels and I'll make the time.
We can dream can't we!
Take care everyone, have a good weekend. For me it'll be a 3 day one. I'm going to sleep in everyday, watch some great movies and do absolutely nothing!!!!!
Love you,
Roz

So heck yeah! I'd go! :) I wouldn't even mind Maggie's kids!!! LOL! The more, the merrier.....
Russ, Cliff did all the driving, so I had to re-learn to drive when he died - that was an adventure in itself. The only things I can recommend is that you have a SAT-NAV, and know where the worst speed traps are. There is one small town in particular that is famous/infamous for it - Waldo, FL - and they will nail you for it. So do be careful. There are also phenomenally long stretches of freeway with nothing on either side except trees, which is beautiful but gets monotonous, so remember to take breaks.
You can also use Google maps street view to do a video dry run of where you will be going. That comes in handy if you're not sure where you're supposed to turn or need landmarks.
I hope the trip is great and the drive is smoothe and easy.
Love and Hugs,
Martha
IF EVER I get to California ( as you say, we can dream right?) I'll let you know !! I had a nice little mini vacation picturing all that in my mind !!
Love and Hugs Roz and enjoy your long weekend

Goggle maps......are you serious? Part of the fun of travel is getting lost. I once found a cranberry bog on our way to Northern CA. that I would have NEVER seen if it weren't for getting lost.
And, once we were in Switzerland and I got lost in the French Alps. A farmer with a cow in tow came over and neither one of us could communicate. He just wanted me off his land! I have a phenomenal sense of direction and drove a little further and found a tunnel that led to the Autobahn and soon we were on our way to Paris. So much fun!
Exploration is my favorite way to travel.
Happy trails,
Roz
Russ, you're heading off for a 22-hour ride from Wisconsin to Florida, right? And you like to fish, right?? There's a lot of water between point A and point B there!!! Way more than you can cover in an overnighter!! Take your time, some bait and some poles and ENJOY this ride! Find lakes or rivers, creeks or waterfalls you may have not seen before! Talk to some guys who think they know where some fish are... Drown some worms, and get a sunburn!! Maggie will just have to keep all those kids home this time and you get to go wading, or speedboating as the spirit moves ya !! It would never be the fishing excursion of your dreams, of course not....but you can snag a lure in a cap, grab a pole, and a net and stuff them in the trunk, and pull over at a likely spot near a camp or a dock. for a break. A REAL break. A do something regular break. A take-a-minute-for-fun break. the kind of break your wife would want you to have break!!! a-hey-this is FUN break!!! Every drive is just a mile at a time anyway...a fishing expedition might just be a couple miles more!! ENJOY!! Stormanchor PS to Maggie: I saw it coming and you had me roaring anyway!! Thanks for the laugh! We had five also....you only got ONE nice one???!!! We always had one PERFECT one.....at any given time!!!!!!
