Maybe I will buy myself some See's candy. It falls on a bad TV night.

I am going to try to act like it isn't happening. That is about the only way I am going to get through the day.

I don't think it will be an issue for me. My father died on Valentine's day five years ago so we stopped celebrating that day a few years ago. We would just pick a random day to surprise each other with candy or a book. Never was elaborate with flowers or dinner. However the lovey ooey gooey commercials get me more than anything.

My Honey surprised with my enagement ring.... you know the one you finally get after all the years of being able to afford it! I'd trade that ring in a heart beat to hold him again! So V day is heartbreaking for me.... I usually try and hide as much as I can and if not pretend it doesn't exist!

I try to ignore it as much as I can. We were married the day before on the 13th and Valentine's Day is my birthday. We celebrated it all together and usually took a trip. I have a lot of fond memories but it is a sad day.

This is my first Valentine's day alone. I am choosing to spend it "with" him..... by looking through photo albums and cherishing the memories. I am trying to be positive about it, to be happy for the years we had together.

I think I will finally read some old letters and cards he sent me over the years and finally look at some albums. I will be armed with chocolate and wine. Eyes get puffy from crying anyway - might as well have all that is bad for me! I send pet Valentine's to all of Daisy the Wonder Dogs friends, and take treats to the dog park. It's just a day - my love for Jerry will go on forever.

I am a Receptionist, I will see all the flowers & candy sent to associates. It is really nice to see all the expressions of love, even thought I will not receive anything. I will get a nice bottle of wine and celebrate with my memories when I go home for the evening...

I am with Altaina...Bill and I always celebrated (big) on Valentine's Day...I am going to spend some quiet time...fix a good meal and some chocolate truffles...settle in with the photo albums and remember the really good Valentine's Days together.

I don't think this is healthy as a "yearly event" but it will certainly get me through the first one, I think.

I am going to visit cemetary and take flowers to him, then maybe buy me lunch on him.( I still have his bilfold as the day he left, with his $$ inside.) LOL I am going to TRY and make it a good memory day instead of a bad hurtful one. We shall see how that goes.

The Today show gave me food for thought

They think its for new romancers, first time lovers, new relationships and over commercialized - it did make me feel somewhat better looking at it that way.

I used to get Roger his candy he liked with a card, never made much of it. BUT knowing this is the first time without him does make it sadder day.

I often think of the song how does it go---"don't cry young lovers, whatever you do, I once had a love like you"

I placed the small valentines bouquet in my husband's casket that day, I was blessed to have him.

My birthday is the 13th, so we usually took a trip to celebrate both. Don't know how I'm going to get through this first one without him, but wine and chocolate sounds like it could help!

The day isn't so bad, it's all the ads and TV commercials leading up to it. I just can't wait for it to be over. -Shelli
