It has been three years since my husband died. I went through all the stages of grief and still am not fully recovered, but I was having days when I could feel a little of my old self coming out again. However, now it will be yesterday here, I got a call late afternoon. It was my daughter's husband. He said he was sorry to tell me this, very sorry, but my daughter, my best friend in the whole world killed herself. She left no note.
She had been battling bouts of deep depression for many years. She was struggling again recently. I stayed in touch. Wednesday I asked how she was feeling. She said she still felt rotten. I kept in touch through text because she preferred that when she was down. I should not have listened and called instead, though I know nothing I could say would lift her out of that dark mood when she was in it. When she was up she was a totally different person. Bright, clever, creative, we would talk and laugh for hours. She refused to take medication. I tried to convince her to try it again. She wouldn't listen, stubborn.
How am I going to make it through this? I can't imagine my life without her. She was my first baby. She was not just my daughter, she was my friend. She was a good sweet person, too sensitive though. She felt everything. Where do I go from here?

Matthew 10:29-31 - Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one falls without His knowing. How much more so does he not feel your pain!!
He never wanted this pain for any of us. Peace and love to you.
Sara, my heart goes out to you. I myself am so precariously balanced with my one year mark to happen on Mother's Day, frankly, I can't even begin to imagine, nor would I ever want to, experience those two losses as you now must. But there are others here that have had the same, or even worse, happen. The only words I have for you, is that love endures all. And it is your love first for your husband, and now, for your daughter, that will empower you to endure both these losses. If I have learned but one thing in the past year, it is this. We must cherish whatever moments we are given. For our moments become memories that are strung together like a necklace of precious jewels. And there will come a time when all we have is that precious necklace of memories. And what begins in us as the most unbearable pain and sadness, is transformed into joy and happiness because we wear that necklace of memories. And that is good. God bless you and comfort you in this your time of need, my dear Sara.
My heart breaks for you. I lost my husband a little over a year ago to suicide. My daughter, my first born, is also my best friend. She deals with depression and is an alcoholic. I'm terrified I'm going to get the call that you just got. This site has been a great help to me. Please keep reaching out for help whenever you need it. I'll be saying lots of prayers for you.

There are no words. Depression is an awful sickness, a silent hurt that sometimes doesn't even show itself. My heart goes out to you along with my prayers. It's O.K. if you can't pray right now there are others who can intercede for you. The Lord is with you. Just plase take care of you.
Sending you love in Christ,,Tim
