I did wear my wedding ring for the first 8 months after my wife died. Then I got a boyfriend and he didn't like me wearing it so don't wear it anymore.
Now I wear a two-finger ring that says HATE on my right hand that belonged to my wife in her honor and because I hate that she's dead. My boyfriend doesn't like that I wear that ring, either, but I do it anyway.
I'm about to see my in-laws and go to a reading in honor of my deceased wife so I'm wearing the wedding ring to that.
Sometimes late at night when I'm up at night I like to put on my wedding ring and feel close to my wife. I rarely wear the ring outside of the house though, because I'm scared of losing it or having it stolen.
As a widow or widower, what is your policy about wearing your wedding ring after the death? What path did you chose? I'm very curious as to what other people do.

my wife will be gone 6 months on March 10. I took my ring off right away only to put it back on recently and I wear hers around my neck on a chain.

My ring is a tattoo. So it will never come off. That finger belongs to Rob. If I ever marry again he can have a different finger. :)

I lost my dear husband just 3 months ago today to brain cancer. I put his ring along with a gold heart on a chain and wear as a necklace. I think others see that big gold ring and understand.

I have two wedding rings. The first set is platinum and very old, made in the 1920s, if is beautiful and my husband was so proud that he could buy them for me. The second one is custom made using diamonds from a dinner ring that my husband bought me and was too high, I could not wear my gardening gloves. Both rings have arthritis bands. I take them off only to clean them. Being that they have arthritis bands they are pretty safe from theft. At my age I have no plans to remarry so my rings stay put . I love the stories behind each one.

I feel naked without it. Tom has been gone only two years but I think I will always wear them.

After fifteen months, I still wear my rings. If I ever reach the point that I feel like dating again, then I will remove them.

On June 12th last year, I had to instruct the doctors to remove Marylou's life support...this was ICU, and her jewelry was in a box in a drawer..."after", when I gathered the contents of the drawer to take with me, I put her wedding band on my little finger, perfect fit, right next to my band on the ring finger...After much soul-searching, I have decided that it's not impossible that I may get-with someone, but only if it happens naturally, I will never force the issue...and if-and-when, they will need to understand where I'm coming from...I will always love Marylou more than my own life, I fully intend for us to share eternity like we promised each other...and anyone I meet between now and then, needs to accept that the rings are not coming off, the pictures are not going anywhere, and why that is...it'll either happen or it won't...either way doesn't matter to me.

I took my wedding ring off about 10 months after my wife died. Having worn it over 30 years it was practically grown into my finger. That was 4 years ago and I still see the indentation on my finger which brings a smile to my face. It was a major step in helping me move forward in my healing and the right time for me.
