I was looking through the photos on my phone yesterday and came across some of my late husband that were pretty graphic. His son would sometimes call and ask me to take a pic of his dad while he was under Hospice care (I hated Hospice). I don't like seeing these photos and doubt anyone else would either. I have already deleted some, but I want to delete a few more. I know I don't have to ask permission, but again - the guilt. The only reason I can think of to keep them would be if I were to file a lawsuit - and that had crossed my mind in the past. Of course it would be way too emotional to go through anything like that; after all, they were just "practicing" physicians. I am still angry with a couple nurses who attend my church (people who used to be our friends). The male nurse and I faced off one time at the hospital; they just overstepped their boundaries with me during this time. Once I press the delete button, they're gone for good (not the nurses but the photos, although we don't interact. I think they blame me, and I blame them. Anyone ever play the blame game?)
If you have reason to think there was some kind of malpractice involved in his death, then you need to speak to a lawyer. The time you have to make a claim varies from state to state, only somebody local can tell you how much time you would have to file a claim. In some places it's 100 days, which isn't much, which is why I mention it.
I think we all go through some blaming as we try to accept it has happened. Sometimes we blame others, sometimes we blame the deceased, and very often we blame ourselves. Usually, it's none of the above. I could write volumes on guilt and anger.....
