As for the business, consulting a lawyer might be the best bet. On the camper issue, I am just going through the same thing. I was going to sell the travel trailer, which we LOVED and had so many memories of. But my son & wife & 4-yr old love to camp, so I am "giving" it to them as I know I'll never pull it again. I was over there at their house the other day and they had washed it and cleaned inside very well. I said I needed to get a single hotplate that I had left in there and I opened the cabinet it was supposed to be in, but it wasn't there. My DIL said, Oh, I rearranged all the stuff in the cabinets. Here it is down here in this lower cabinet. My heart hurt. I could hardly bear to see how our little home was rearranged. Just an emotional response. I wanted to cry.

I bought a small used motorhome that I can drive with ease. Went camping for just one night, all by myself. It was OK. I lost it at sunset when I remembered Joe and me sitting with a cold drink or coffee and talking about anything and everything. Oh, how I wish I could bring it back. Such pain.

I think buying something that fits you just right is the right thing to do. Even though painful, we have to let go of "what was". I hate it, I could scream how unfair it is, I could cry my eyes out, but nothing will change. The past is gone, just like a tsunami washing over our lives. He was "washed out to sea" and I was left to figure everything out about living on. Sucks. But, go for it, Nicker. I'm cheering you on!!

That couldn't have been easy after you and your husband had shared that recreation in the past. I have the same thing happen when i go to the boat. Nicker what is (TAKALONG raks?)

If the sons are part owners they will have to part of the decision to sell or you could end up with legal troubles.

You would not be able to legally sell the business if the boys are legally part owners. They may be willing to sell however and be done with it as you have already found a buyer. Alternatively, you could ask the boys to buy out your share and then let them do whatever they want with the business. If you already have an offer of $6,000 then you have some proof of the value of the business.

I know you have already had legal troubles with the boys, so you may want to talk with your lawyer and get some help and advice on how to handle this. Your friend would need to get a proper bill of sale contract from you anyway, and that is best done by a lawyer. So long as the boys aren't real a-holes about it, it would not be a difficult thing for the lawyer to draw up for you all. It's a basic form, so shouldn't cost tons of money.

I know you have so much emotion tied in in all of this, that it may be a good idea to let the lawyer handle it all. Sometimes the best thing to do is to have somebody else handle it.

I still have so much to sort and much to sell. I thought I was doing well with that, but here I am at 2 years almost and still a lot left. It was such a snowy winter here that I couldn't do anything. My husband had so many things. I have a small 19 ft. camper, zero turn lawnmower, and four wheeler. I thought I had a person that was going to sell them for me, but now I am getting cold feet. Just wanted to say that it is all so so very emotional. So many memories and feelings attached to everything. I dont' think it's ever easy.

I suggest having a lawyer send the sons a letter that you want to sell your share in the business.

Give them first option to buy you out.....and set a price...higher than you expect but not unreasonable...so it gives them room to negioate and feel good about it.

If they do not want to buy you out....then also note that you will be selling your share to an interested buyer. Also mention that if they are interested in selling then the buyer will purchase the ntire amount. Note that you need to ask the lawyer if you can just sell your share....i think you can.

Also..do NOT menton to them or anyone who knows them that you need the money...they might think they have the upperhand then.
