I was thrilled when I opened your post to see your comments on a book that in so many ways changed my thoughts on Heaven. It challenged my views to some degree and gave an interesting albeit different observation of what we might experience upon taking our final breath here on earth. Over the decades since I have read "Deadline," I have recommended it over and over. How nice to see that there are others who consider it a blessing.
"Deadline" was recommended for my reading many years ago by a good friend. I was hooked from the beginning, but was blown away when I came to the chapter about Heaven. I could hardly believe how vividly that chapter came back to me when I found my husband on our drive. As I knelt by his body waiting for the paramedics, words from scripture rushed into my memory bringing me the peace that passes all understanding. My soul was comforted. But to my surprise, the chapter from "Deadline" also flooded my thoughts and brought me a blessed calm. There I was holding my DH's lifeless body, crying my eyes out yet knowing the glory he was presently experiencing. What peace, what comfort. Words cannot describe my mixed emotions of happiness for him, and complete devastation for me.
I will be forever be grateful to Mr. Alcorn for his part in bringing a glorious scene of Heaven to my thoughts at the most difficult moment of my life, saying goodbye to my DH. TJ
